Principal Accountabilities:  Key activities and decision making areas

Impact on the Business / Function

  • Enhance our current product proposition including Security Trustee, Escrow and PA deals and ensure seamless execution by leading discussions with clients / all relevant stakeholders especially for complex deals
  • Become a Subject matter expert for TRA transactions by setting up robust controls / processes for such deals and guide the team to manage such transactions seamlessly
  • Continuously monitor and maintain all key metrics for the business and be responsible for ensuring all necessary MI is reported to management on a timely basis

 

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Maintain good relationship with clients, market intermediaries and internal Key Business Partners (KBPs) and lead discussions / calls with all parties when necessary
  • Responsible for providing effective client services on a timely basis and lead projects with a focus to reduce the turnaround time
  • Enhance the existing product proposition for TRA structures with an emphasis on ensuring robust controls in place  

 

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Train and coach the team on ISV products and complex structures especially TRA structures
  • Lead and be responsible for handling all complex / large value transactions seamlessly 
  • Guide and enhance the expertise level of CS team members by engaging with them, indentifying the areas for improvement, chalking out a systematic plan for improvement

 

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Lead the developments/implementation of systems to enhance controls and increase the operational efficiency within the team.
  • Optimize internal processes by constantly evaluating areas for improvement
  • To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external auditors.
  • Digitization of manual process including HSBCnet, H2H, etc.

 

Role Context

The corporate trustee products (mainly Security Trustee, Escrow transactions, TRAs, IPOs, Open Offers, Takeover, Buybacks etc.) are varied in complexities and nature which requires wide knowledge of financial markets and in-depth understanding of regulatory issues. These Products carry certain responsibilities and as such it is critical to ensure that there is no breach in any of the obligations towards the beneficiaries and at the same time ensure that the interest of the bank is protected.  It is also critical to identify operational risks on a case to case basis and mitigate the same. ISV products are governed by RBI and SEBI regulations and the job holder needs to know these thoroughly

 

 

 

 

Management & Leadership of Regulatory, Compliance & Operational Risk

Demonstrate leadership on Regulatory & Compliance matters. Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting in accordance with section B.1.2 of the Group Operations FIM.

 

Observation of Internal Controls

Maintain and observe HSBC internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.  Foster a compliance culture and  implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Regional Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training is provided, and optimising relations with regulators
