Job Introduction

In order to assist the Manager to carry out his/her duties effectively, the Bank has established the AVP Business Manager role. In an increasingly competitive business scenario where Managers are required to take on work involving a lot of volume and complexity, this role is critical in supporting the Manager with Management Information (MI) and financial reporting that involves financial analysis to assess business performance and to assist the SSV top team in strategy formulation.  It involves consolidating results of the businesses within SSv (Custody and Clearing, Issuer Services & Fund Services), generating weekly and monthly MIS reports and inputting both plans and performance into the system, which is the centralized reporting system used across SSv sites globally. The role involves preparation of structured financial reports and replying to ad-hoc queries raised by top management and will require working within tight deadlines. The role will require direct interaction with senior management within the business, Customer Groups. INM Finance (FCD) and ASP FIN as and when required.  

The role will also have responsibility for supporting implementation and operating of internal controls as well as monitoring the ongoing effectiveness of these controls to gain assurance that key controls are operating in line with risk appetite and any regulatory and FIM requirements, managing risks, controlling and reducing costs and driving business efficiencies.

Business specific tasks are also handled independently in terms of maintaining the Bank's internal control and Global standards, observing the Group Compliance Policy (Gifts and Entertainment Register updation for the Line Manager), tracking deliverables from Line Manager’s emails , cost containment, interacting and maintaining excellent relationships with regulators/depositaries and external/internal clients, tracking team initiatives and handling MIS reporting as per the Manager's requirements.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Business Performance

Financial analysis to assess business performance.  It will involve consolidating results of the three businesses within SSv (Custody and Clearing, Issuer Services and Fund Services), generating weekly and monthly MIS reports and inputting both plans and performance into systems, The role will involve in preparation of structured financial reports and replying to ad-hoc queries raised by top management and will require working within tight deadlines. The role will require direct interaction with senior management within the business, INM Finance (FCD) and ASP FIN as and when required.

  • Business Reporting
    • Responsible for timely FRP submissions (financial targets) to ASP
    • Responsible for all forms of business reporting like ALCO reporting and MI reporting to ASP and Local Senior Management. Includes input of data and comments into system
    • Answering queries from various stakeholders like senior management, FIN and global MI and Reporting
  • Identification of Revenue streams and Costs
    • Responsible for tracking costs and ensuring that any exceptional movements are highlighted.
    • Ensure that all revenue heads for SSv are mapped correctly
    • Bringing in accuracy and Improvements in the forecast results
  • Formation of strategic and operating plans
    • Work closely with the SSv top team in the formation of strategic / operating plans for the business

Customers /Stakeholders:

  • Communicating with ASP fin, Loc fin, Customer groups & Senior Mgmt for the various reporting requirements.
  • Providing Inputs to customer Groups, Local Finance, ASP Finance etc on FRP in the templates as required.
  • Regular reviews of processes and controls required as per FIM and regulations to ensure an enabling environment for SSV team.

Leadership & Teamwork:

  • Improving the understanding of business co-ordinators / data providers of Financial Reporting requirements.
  • Helping the Internal Team on any queries on Reporting and Plans

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

  • Maintain all controls for bringing accuracy in the reporting process.
  • To detect and take steps to minimize errors if any.

This is a role with a high visibility in the business, both locally and in ASP.  The incumbent will be a central point of contact for all financial reporting, both for local management, FCD, ASP FIN and business finance in HK /London. The role will involve and require direct interaction with senior managers and business heads. 

Education Qualification & Experience:

  • University BCOM, BBA or BS, Chartered Accountant / MBA preferred. Knowledge of MS-Excel must
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience
  • Pro-tip : Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage
