This role profile is for GCOO – IWPB Cash Operations, with accountability for delivering
controlled, compliant, and high-quality cash processing services.
Cash processing stays a critical enabler of the Indian economy. By early 2026, currency in
circulation reached record levels of over ₹40 lakh crore, reflecting the ongoing importance
of cash due to its confidentiality, universal acceptance, and immediate settlement.

Key Responsibilities
● Deliver a professional, high-quality service to high-value clients, using sound
judgement and thorough analysis to resolve a broad range of enquiries.
● Function as the primary point of contact within IWPB Cash Operations, ensuring:
robust end-to-end cash processing
effective vendor management
prompt investigations
exact reconciliations
● Maintain clear end-to-end ownership of each transaction and deliver initiative[1]taking, compliant solutions in partnership with internal stakeholders.

● Demonstrate strong discipline by following procedures, keeping proper records, and
addressing audit observations and regulatory matters promptly.
● Maintain strong working knowledge of Cash products, services, and procedures,
keeping up to date with regulatory and business changes to find control
enhancements, process improvements, cost efficiencies, and digital opportunities.
Job Introduction
Role Purpose
● Provide end-to-end oversight of Cash Operations, ensuring vendor activities,
investigations, and reconciliations are completed within agreed timelines and control
standards.
● Standardized processes, ensuring procedure notes and documentation are kept,
reviewed, and updated on a defined cadence.
● Maintain and evaluate an effective Business Continuity Plan (BCP) to support
operational resilience.
● Ensure daily activity aligns with approved policies and procedures, while finding and
delivering continuous improvement.
● Monitor vendor and internal team performance against defined service standards
and control requirements.
● Drive performance against agreed metrics, including cost, key process indicators
(e.g., turnaround time and accuracy), and customer outcomes.
● Uphold HSBC internal control standards, ensuring prompt remediation of audit
findings and regulatory issues.
● Apply relevant Group Compliance Policy and embed operational risk awareness,
ensuring activities are risk-assessed and appropriately controlled.
● Monitor and evaluate direct reports using production management systems and
management information.
● Embed discipline and accountability in BAU, leading by example and ensuring
deadlines are met consistently.

● Collaborate with GCOO Operations and wider stakeholders to ensure prompt and
exact delivery of required responses.
● Find, assess, and mitigate process risks, including streamlining workflows and
implementing corrective and preventative actions.

● Ensure cash operations run smoothly across the business and that all RBI deadlines
are met.
● Manage costs within plan, minimize losses, and find cost reduction opportunities.
● Partner with colleagues to increase awareness of IWPB Cash Operations products,
strategies, and key business communities.
● Maintain strong awareness of the regulatory and business environment, including
audit, tax, and legal implications affecting customers and the Bank.
● Maintain overall ownership of cash transactions, ensuring complete end-to-end
processing and effective vendor management.
Customers / Stakeholders
● Proactively engage Lines of Business, Risk stewards, and Global Functions
stakeholders to ensure the Bank meets agreed timelines.
● Support strong customer relationships by keeping a consistently high standard of
service.
● Understand and implement customer requirements through elevated levels of
engagement and collaboration with business groups.

Role Requirements
● Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree.
● Experience: 3–5 years’ overall banking experience.
● Skills: Strong stakeholder and relationship management, interpersonal and
influencing capability, and solid risk awareness and risk management discipline.
Pro-tip : Familiarity with AI-enabled tools is an advantage.
