We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Manager, Control Oversight reporting to Head of Risk and Business Management.

Principal responsibilities

• Control Framework Leadership - Develop, implement, and continuously enhance the control oversight framework, ensuring alignment with HSBC’s Operational Risk Management Framework and Group policies. Champion the adoption of best practices in risk and control management, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Facilitate risk workshops and challenge business/control owners to ensure robust risk identification and mitigation.
• Continuous Control Monitoring - Lead the execution of Continuous Control Monitoring activities and provide real-time insights into control effectiveness. Identify control gaps through ongoing monitoring, and drive timely remediation actions. Oversight high-quality MI and reporting on control effectiveness, risk trends, thematic review outcomes for senior management and governance forums.
• Thematic Reviews including Manual Process Inventory Review - Lead and coordinate thematic reviews across the business/function to identify systemic issues, root causes, and trends in control failures or weaknesses. Ensuring lessons learned are embedded and shared across the organization. Oversee the timely identification, escalation, and resolution of control issues, ensuring root cause analysis and sustainable remediation.
• Build strong relationships with business leaders, risk stewards, audit, and compliance partners to ensure alignment on control priorities and risk appetite.
• Act as a trusted advisor, providing challenge and guidance on control matters.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of control professionals, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture. 

Requirements

• University degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in insurance or banking, with exposure to risk management, internal controls, audit and sound knowledge of retail banking, investment markets, insurance products and regulations, operational risk management, control monitoring or other related areas
• Strong business sense, self-motivated with good communication, logical and positive thinking, interpersonal and analytical skills
• Strong business acumen with good problem solving, communication and analytical skills
• Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective deliverables
• Advanced stakeholder management and influencing abilities
• Proven leadership and team development skills
• Proficiency in both English and Chinese
• Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
