Principal Responsibilities
Risk and Control
- 1.5 Line of Defense Risk & Control, with SME focusing Regulatory Compliance Risk, Conduct Risk, and Regulatory Reporting Risk.
- Ensure risk exposures are assessed, documented, and addressed through appropriate controls, action plans, and monitoring.
- Drive consistent control design/operation expectations, evidence standards, and timely remediation of control gaps. Proactively identify, assess, and escalate risks and control weaknesses through appropriate governance forums and channels.
- Regulatory reporting governance, inventory and tooling - Steward the Regulatory Reporting Inventory, ensuring completeness, ownership clarity, submission cadence, and control coverage.
- Design entity-wise conduct promotion and monitring programs and drive effective Conduct Culture.
- Governance, monitoring, MI and escalation - Maintain oversight of key conduct indicators and control effectiveness measures; ensure monitoring is meaningful, timely, and action-oriented.
Regulatory Affairs
- Support Regulatory Compliance in Regulatory Development horizon scanning, Disseminate regulatory changes, Coordinate and monitor regulation gap analysis and implementation, to ensure business effective response to regulatory changes and comply with regulatory requirement, closely collaborating with business and second line of defence risk stewards.
- Support other regulatory affairs as needed, e.g. regulatory survey & reports, key regulatory applications, regulatory engagement. Protect reputation, avoid regulatory sanctions, speed up regulatory approval to support material strategic and business development.
Team Leadership
- Management responsibility for a team, including coaching, objective setting, performance management, and capability development.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in insurance or banking, with exposure to Compliance, Risk Management, Internal controls, Audit and sound knowledge of HK Insurance, Wealth business and related regulations.
- Excellent communication skills to foster a good relationship with the local regulators and the business lines and functions.
- Strong understanding of risk and control methodologies and toolkits (e.g., Risk and Control Assessment, Control testing, Issue and Incident Management etc.). Proven ability to design, assess, and improve controls. Right judgment about the local regulatory requirements, Group policy requirements and good business vision, decision-making capability.
- Excellent stakeholder management, ability to influence across senior levels and to drive changes.
- Strong business sense, self-motivated with logical and positive thinking, interpersonal and analytical skills; able to translate complex risk topics into clear actions
- Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective deliverables
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Proficiency in both English and Chinese
