The role is reporting to Risk and Business Management Team in Hang Seng Insurance Company (“HSIC”), the Business Compliance Manager is responsible for the implementation of the Group Financial Crime Policy and ensures all related controls are effective and implemented within target completion date. The Business Compliance Manager is also expected to collabratively work with other stakeholders (incl. Global Insurance, Financial Crime Compliance, WPB, ORM, Insurance Risk, Regulatory Compliance, Third Party Risk etc.).
Business Risk and Control Manager
Reporting to Head of Risk and Business Management of Insurance, the Business Risk & Control Management Manager (BRCM) supports and ensures Insurance business owns its risk and controls as the first line of defense, ensuring that all key risks within their activities and operations are identified, mitigated and monitored by an appropriate control environment that is commensurate with risk appetite. The BRCM is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Group Operational Risk Framework and is also required to work with other stakeholders/departments (incl. Global Insurance BRCM, RB&W BRCM, ERM, Insurance Risk, Regulatory Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance, Third Party Risk etc.) to ensure all controls in place are effective and ensure remedial actions are in place and implemented within target completion date.
Role holders will carry out activities that will include most of the following:
Pricipal Responsibilities:
- Support HSIC Risk and Business Management team to support how to properly manage the operational risk (including third party risk managment) and all items related (Risk assessments, Control testing and environment, issues and incidents management)
- Support to implement and enforce robust risk governance ensuring stakeholders to have visibility of key risks and remediation activity
- Support to implement and maintain operational risk management in the first line of defense
- Support to conduct reviews of control performance. Facilitate internal control remediation, if applicable
- Support to conduct independent review as and when required. Coordinate Audit Reviews and conduct the related validation.
- Ensure compliance of Hang Seng Insurance with Group requirements relating to Business Continuity Plans.
- To assist Head of Risk and Business Management in his / her prime responsibilities for complying with all regulations, to keep him / her informed of all significant compliance matters and breaches, as well as to compile timely reports for the department
- Collaborate with Risk Management, Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Internal Audit and other subject matter experts to lead INS in implementing risk management policies and guidelines and conducting Risk Control Assessment (RCA), ensure ongoing reviews and reporting as required.
Requirements
- University degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline
- Around 5 years’ relevant experience in banking/insurance, with exposure to risk control and relevant qualification
- Sound knowledge of insurance markets, products and regulations, operational risk management, financial crime compliance or other related areas
- Strong business sense, self-motivated with good communication, logical and positive thinking, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Strong business acumen with good problem solving, communication and analytical skills
- Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective deliverables
- Proficiency in both English and Chinese
