Some career choices have more impact than others.
At HSBC we exist with the purpose of Opening up a World of Opportunity. We use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth and perspectives to provide opportunities for our customers and colleagues through global connectivity. We bring together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world - for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities and the planet we all share.
Work with globally connected corporates - and help them move money, manage risk and grow across borders. Join a high-performing Melbourne team continuing to expand its footprint by targeting genuinely international clients, with bespoke and sophisticated domestic and global banking needs. At HSBC, in Corporate and Institutional Banking, our purpose of Opening up a World of Opportunity translates into helping ambitious businesses grow - connecting them to capital, markets, risk solutions and specialist expertise across our global network.
HSBC continues to deliver strong performance in Australia, recognised in market surveys, league tables, awards and a leading position in sustainable finance. In Melbourne, we’re building on that momentum - investing in a growing Corporate Banking team to support substantial growth across an expanding client base.
You will work with some of the most internationally focused and growth-minded corporates in the market. You will support a diverse client base with turnover of $50m to $3b, including ASX Top 200 public companies, large proprietary private businesses and financial sponsor-owned companies. Many operate across borders - meaning real-world complexity: global supply chains, offshore expansion, multi-currency exposures, and international stakeholders. If you want variety, commercial thinking and genuinely international banking, you’ll find it here.
Responsibilities:
- Driving Corporate Banking portfolio growth and origination, supporting client planning, pitching, transaction execution and delivery of new-to-bank/new-to-product opportunities.
- Delivering high-quality origination papers, corporate credit submissions, pitch books and supporting client panning, with a core focus on delivering on high value customer propositions.
- Bringing sharp market and industry insight, understanding local and global dynamics shaping client strategy, risk and opportunity.
- Building and deepening senior client relationships, engaging multiple stakeholders and identifying needs where HSBC can add value.
- Connecting clients to HSBC’s global platform, partnering with product specialists across Leveraged & Syndicated Finance, Global Markets, Global Trade Solutions, Global Payments Solutions, and Private Banking.
- Maintaining strong risk and control discipline, including credit policy adherence, ongoing monitoring, financial crime compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting documentation and execution, working with internal stakeholders and internal/external legal counsel to negotiate and deliver facilities.
Requirements:
- Strong experience working in Corporate & Institutional Banking (e.g. corporate or institutional bank, debt advisory, private credit or other debt capital focused firm).
- Confident understanding of core corporate banking products/structures including bilateral and syndicated lending, trade finance, transactional banking and treasury solutions.
- Strong corporate structuring, credit and analytical capability (including industry and credit risks), with experience navigating the end-to-end credit and risk process. This will be supported by your ability to model and analyse financial statements and forecasts, with strong execution focused on turning around deals under deadlines.
- Familiarity with APLMA loan documentation and Australian security structures.
- Relevant degree (Finance/Business/Accountancy/Law or similar). Postgraduate qualifications (e.g., Master of Finance, CFA, CPA) are well regarded.
- Experience with complex cash flow and structured transactions, within our key corporate exposures: Consumer (food/beverage/agriculture), Retail, Diversified Industrials, Higher Education, Technology, Media, and Telecommunication will be highly regarded.
- An ability to develop strong and deep relationships across various internal and external stakeholders.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
As an HSBC employee in Australia, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities, competitive pay, an embedded flexible working culture and a range of employee benefits.
