Relationship Manager, Portfolio Coverage – 42701
We are seeking an ambitious individual to join the Global Network Banking, Bahrain team as a Relationship Manager, Portfolio Coverage to support the growing business and achieve divisional targets. This role will have internal and external stakeholders. Internal stakeholders may include Sales, Product Development, Risk & Compliance teams. The remit may range from an area within a country or multiple countries.
This position is responsible for working with the Portfolio Coverage team, with accountability for service, risk, sales and operational delivery to achieve highest customer satisfaction through pipeline, sales activity and customer service management.
In this role, you will:
- Manage a portfolio of International Banking clients and build upon existing and winning new long-term relationships with the customers we want to bank, coherent with CIB strategy to be the Leading International Trade and Corporate Bank
- Develop effective strategies to manage customer relationships, anticipate customer needs and provide a superior quality service to position HSBC as the market leader in this segment
- Collaborating with product partners to identify and match customer needs with relevant expertise
- Ensure quality service for all customers by owning customer engagement, always ensuring service excellence, for all aspects of any customer, prospect or professional’s interaction with HSBC
- Maintain awareness of operational and fraud risk within assigned portfolio and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification, assessment, mitigation and control, loss identification and reporting
- Be an ambassador for HSBC and develop the bank’s profile in the local community, with a particular focus on international business
- Maintain a proactive and appropriate calling program to service clients, ensuring senior management and key stakeholders for clients are contacted regularly.
- Keep abreast of external factors influencing international business e.g. economic, cultural, geographical, procedural and regulatory requirements
- Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of customer information, including Know your Customer (KYC) requirements, in Group systems.
- Be responsible for assisting the Global Network Banking Team and delivering on CDD related process for GNB portfolio.
- Establish an effective working relationship with Risk Management teams, in order to validate the accuracy of the customer risk profile and ensure sustainable asset growth.
- Monitor and manage robust controls to ensure credit risk and other risks are adequately mitigated and appropriate timely action taken to minimize losses to the Bank.
- Keep abreast with sustainability and assist in identifying, leading and delivering sustainability solutions supporting clients in their transition journey.
- Ensure early identification of problem relationships and acts, where there are potential and existing problem accounts to protect HSBC interests
- Work in partnership with colleagues across the HSBC network to deliver exceptional standards and quality of service
- Accountable for managing and timely execution of all operational queries, exceptions on the assigned portfolio, including but not limited to payments, transactions, inward cheque clearing, activity monitoring alerts etc.,
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Working knowledge in commercial banking products and banking operations. Knowledge of the Commercial Banking market both globally and specifically relating to the local environment, including the competitive landscape, with a detailed knowledge of competitor propositions. Bahrain market experience is preferred
- Honed analytical skills, with a strong emphasis on operational risk
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis upon inspiring, influencing and negotiating in dealing with customers and colleagues
- Possess lots of initiative, drive and pride in getting the job done the right way the first time
- Innovative with a flair for solving problems
- Commercial acumen
