Credit & Capital Management Services (CCMS) under CIB are in the process of implementing a new, modern, and consistent E2E operating model.  A key component of this operating model is the introduction of a first line credit management office, the Business Credit Office (BCO). The BCO function will complete tasks currently owned by multiple actors in the management of the first line credit risk responsibilities including structuring, credit analysis and rating recommendation, client credit monitoring tasks, credit terms and docs negotiation with WCMR and clients acting as a single handoff from a RM to the BCO for all Credit & Lending (C&L) tasks, creating a single control point. The function will be client facing and customer service orientated.

 
We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join the team as an Analyst who will provide credit advisory and support services to BCO Managers and Relationship Managers (RMs) / Coverage. The role holder is responsible for co-ordinating and completing credit applications or renewals as well as managing risk escalation. In discharging their duties, the role holder must implement a common, reliable, and predictable underwriting and lending process, that protects the business from exposure, whilst responding to clients borrowing needs.  The role holder will work closely with the Coverage and Transaction Support teams to ensure seamless customer experience and consistency of service for all customers.

 

In this role, the key responsibilities will include:

 •    Responsible for the delivery of BCO tasks in line with agreed OKRs, SLAs and KPIs
•    Support the end-to-end Credit & Lending servicing journey, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for both customers and internal stakeholders
•    Assist the Relationship Manager with credit analysis and the timely submission of credit proposals for facilities for both existing and prospective clients 
•    Liaise with relevant teams for the preparation of facility letter and any other internal security documents.  Ensure completeness of security documentation prepared by external legal counsel.  
•    Proactively manage the credit quality of the supported portfolio by i) conducting periodic credit reviews;     ii) tracking and reporting of compliance with covenants and conditions of approval; and iii) promptly  escalating deviations to the Risk team for resolution. 
•    Actively participate in training sessions to continue to develop credit skills, product knowledge, industry knowledge and client management skills. 
•    Ensure the consistent application of HSBC policies and adherence to regulatory, financial, and legal standards to minimize business and reputational risks 
•    Support the BCO Manager and Team Lead on ad-hoc requirements and other strategic initiatives to streamline and simplify end-to end credit & lending process
•    Participate in deal discussions and meetings with clients as required
•    Protect the Bank by acting as First Line of Defense and adhering to all controls
•    Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations, along with addressing any issues raised by external regulators.

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements: 

  • University degree in Business Management, Banking, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Strong customer-centric focus including a breadth of product/business experience, with minimum 2 years previous experience of working in the Financial Services sector, within commercial banking is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and credit mitigants and robust credit, analytical and financial skills. This includes taking the lead in preparing and securing credit approvals.
  • Strong knowledge of Bank’s structures, processes and procedures with ability to navigate in a complex matrixed environment.
  • Good prioritizing, organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders 
  • Knowledge of the Bahrain business environment is an asset.
