The opportunity: Associate – Institutional Client Group

What you will do: 

The job holder will join the ICG coverage team in Spain, covering clients primarily in the banking and insurance space with a strong focus on developping opportunities in close coordination with product partners worldwide. Additionally the candidate will also be responsible to manage the relationships of foreign institutional clients with operations in Spain.
The candidate will have full exposure to the broad HSBC products offering and will work within a close, well-coordinated team led by a senior banker, who will provide strategic direction and set commercial priorities.

In this role you will:

• Ensure the efficient, smooth running of operational and commercial activities for the assigned client portfolio.
• Drive sustainable growth by identifying portfolio expansion opportunities and deepening relationships, leveraging HSBC’s product suite while maintaining strong credit quality in line with HSBC credit standards, policies and processes.
• Maintain close coordination with HSBC’s international network to respond quickly to client queries, provide local support abroad and capture cross-border opportunities.
• Identify client needs and deliver tailored solutions across trade and working capital finance, cash management, DCM, AM and MSS, partnering with product specialists.
• Ensure the portfolio meets all internal and external regulatory requirements, including KYC, Compliance and financial crime risk management across the client lifecycle.
• Own all credit aspects of the relationship, including annual reviews, early issue identification, escalation and remedial management.
• Manage operational and reputational risk by adhering to HSBC Standards and policies, applying sound ethical judgement, and transparently reporting/escalating control issues or breaches.


You should apply if you have: 

• Strong academic background
• Previous working experience in a similar role within International banks or international division of domestic banks
• Proven expertise in risk assessment and ability to proactively manage risks 
• Knowledge and fluency in English, Spanish
• Proactive attitude, eager to take on responsibilities and able to work well in an international high-performance team
• Stress resilience, and can shift quickly between different responsibilities
• MS Office proficiency

What you’ll get in return:

The pay range for this role is 50,000 € - 60,000 €
