The candidate will be a key member of the Warehouse Finance team, responsible for originating, structuring, underwriting and executing warehouse facilities, and supporting ongoing client relationship development across the UK and Europe. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders across Coverage, Credit, Legal and Operations, and with Associates/VPs who support modelling, analysis and execution workstreams.

d) credit approval packs, including memo writing and financial modelling
e) term sheet preparation and negotiation
f) evaluation of credit, legal, structural and risk issues
g) review and support negotiation of loan and transactional documentation, interfacing with counsel and clients
h) post-execution management, working closely with the Portfolio Management team

  • Own internal governance for new transactions, producing clear, high-quality credit papers with a well-reasoned recommendation.

Origination, client engagement & ecosystem presence

  • Act as a key point of contact for prospects and clients, leading client dialogue from initial engagement through execution
  • Stay close to what each client is trying to achieve. Understand how their lending strategy is evolving, what funding they need next, and how performance is tracking, then translate that into clear origination priorities and deal opportunities
  • Act as a senior face of HSBC Innovation Banking in the structured finance and fintech ecosystem, representing the bank at select industry events and client pitches

Modelling, portfolio analysis & credit skillset

  • Build cashflow models and perform collateral/portfolio analysis (including borrowing base mechanics).
  • Be highly proficient in loss coverage multiple analysis and use modelling outputs to support structuring, pricing and risk decisions.
  • Ensure key risks are identified early (credit, legal, structural, operational), including corporate analysis and underwriting, and drive mitigants and escalation where required.

Operational partnership

  • Work closely with Operations, Legal and internal teams to make sure facilities and ongoing requirements operate properly in practice (drawdowns, reporting flows, booking accuracy and controls)
  • Improve processes and procedures (including templates, playbooks and approval packs) to reduce turnaround times and keep delivery consistent

Coaching, quality and team contribution

  • Coach Associates day-to-day on the practicalities of underwriting and execution
  • Share best practice and help strengthen the team toolkit (templates, dashboards, playbooks and pack standards) so the team can move faster and scale without losing rigour

Requirements:

  • Extensive prior experience in structured finance / warehouse or asset-backed lending, with strong exposure to origination, structuring, execution and credit governance
  • Demonstrated ability to structure, negotiate and close complex asset-backed facilities across various collateral types (e.g., consumer loans, credit cards, invoice finance, real estate)
  • Familiarity with due diligence processes, legal frameworks and risk governance in a regulated banking environment
  • Skilled at financial modelling (must be highly proficient in loss coverage multiple analysis)
  • Adept at balancing commercial drivers with sound credit judgement and internal policy
  • Confident communicator who can influence stakeholders across Credit, Legal, Operations, Business Risk and coverage teams
