- Play a lead role in the execution of the Invention & Patents Strategy, progressing invention disclosures, maintaining portfolio governance and tracking, and supporting commercialisation pathways and recognition mechanisms that sustain an invention culture
- Identify and assess next-generation innovation trends, disruptors, and associated AI partnership opportunities, translating signals into implications and strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Shape and influence the enterprise innovation portfolio/pipeline, driving prioritisation, investment and scale decisions through clear value cases and measurable outcomes; and support AI at Scale by defining a prioritised set of opportunities with clear hypotheses, benefit measures and pathways to scale (delivered via partner teams)
- Mobilise stakeholders across business, technology, risk, procurement and strategy to remove blockers and embed appropriate governance and controls for responsible innovation
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Innovation partnerships experience: Evidence of converting external innovation/AI partnerships, including academia, into tangible outcomes (e.g., research topics/projects, talent pipelines, insight generation and measurable value)
- Inventions, patents & innovation exposure: Exposure to invention, patents and/or innovation initiatives and ecosystems, including disclosures, portfolio governance/tracking, commercialisation and/or recognition mechanisms
- Communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement: Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders across business, technology and external partners at enterprise level; aligning innovation efforts with bank priorities; leading cross-functional working groups to deliver measurable outcomes; and producing executive-ready strategic options and recommendations that inform prioritisation, investment and scale decisions
- Strategic innovation and market intelligence: Strong demonstrable understanding of emerging trends in financial services, including disruptors (e.g., fintechs/neobanks) and technologies (including AI), and the ability to translate these into pragmatic options and pathways to enterprise value
- Portfolio management: Significant experience in governance, prioritisation and benefits tracking and supporting decision forums, with experience shaping and governing an AI and/or advanced strategic innovation portfolio to unlock measurable value
