The value you’ll add:
A Tax Manager based in the UK is sought to support HSBC Innovation Banking’s (‘HINV’) presence in the UK and for belated organic growth of tax function in HINV. The role will work closely with the Senior Tax Manager and have some oversight responsibility over one tax member based in the COE in India. The candidate will be one of the key tax technical resources and be a contact for collaborating with other members within the Finance, Transformation, Regulatory and Compliance teams in HINV.
The role presents a unique opportunity for the right candidate to join a growing and innovative business, with significant exposure to corporation tax, tax advisory work, transfer pricing and gaining valuable experience of international tax.
What you can expect to be doing:
Managing compliance responsibilities (including reviewing) across direct tax (including Statutory accounts, tax provisioning, tax returns) performed by the tax member at COE based India
Providing tax technical guidance for direct tax reporting and tax returns compliance
Monitoring tax administration compliance and ensure tasks are timely and accurately carried out (e.g. ensuring timely tax payments for EMEA locations)
Supporting the tax team in carrying out risk steward function in client tax governance, staff mobility governance and employment tax
Responding to any tax form requests from business or from corporate functions
Assisting the tax team in performing post implementation check and ongoing monitoring of tax initiatives or tax compliance (e.g. transfer pricing, staff mobility)
Assisting the tax team in tax controversies, enquiries, statutory accounts audit and any tax initiatives.
Supporting Senior Tax Manager in tax governance by enforcing effective tax control process, reviewing and report deficiency, executing tax risk management controls and reports, influence cross functions for data quality improvement.
Supporting Senior Tax Manager in discharging HINV’s accountability to the HSBC group in Senior Accounting Officer (“SAO”) certification process of HSBC Group. This will involve project management across all HINV teams, building a detailed working knowledge of HINV accounting systems and processes, with appreciation of any underlying SAO risk and appropriate mitigation if needed and managing the final submission of SAO certification
Requirements:
ACA/CTA/ACCA qualification
UK corporate tax experience gained from a practice firm or within the financial services industry preferred
Experience of VAT tax in financial services would be a plus
Self-starter, Pro-active, eagerness to learn and a team player with ability to adjust to change and the desire to take on responsibility and ownership of allocated work
Certifications
ACA/CTA/ACCA qualification
