We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Supply Chain Sustainability Manager – Carbon & Nature.

 

This role gives you a unique opportunity to work across environmental aspects of the supply chain and play a critical role in the delivery of HSBC’s 2050 Net Zero ambition. Key focus areas include reducing carbon emissions across supply chain, supporting and enabling suppliers in their transition and achievement of targets, as well as addressing impacts from our nature hot spots.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Lead carbon data outreach and management: Gather, validate and improve supplier carbon data to build foundation of trusted, verified & decision-oriented data that inform sourcing strategies and track progress toward net zero goals.
  • Plan for the future and track emerging trends: Continuously monitor external sustainability developments and regulatory requirements, ensuring procurement strategies remain future-proof and aligned with best practice.
  • Engage and enable suppliers: Develop segmentation, roadmaps and engagement plans to help suppliers reduce emissions and enhance nature-positive outcomes, fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Embed sustainability in procurement processes: Work with category managers to integrate carbon and nature priorities into sourcing strategies, supplier selection and relationship management.
  • Shape and influence procurement strategy: Act as a subject matter expert in carbon and nature, contributing to the global sustainability vision and helping make procurement a key driver of HSBC’s sustainability agenda.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Strong carbon data and analysis expertise: Proven ability to apply GHG Protocol (particularly Scope 3), carbon accounting, and data platforms (e.g. CDP) to measure, manage and report emissions.
  • Sustainability in procurement and across supply chains: Experience embedding carbon/environmental principles into procurement/supply chain function and working with suppliers to deliver measurable impact.
  • Knowledge of key frameworks and trends: Familiarity with standards and frameworks such as SBTi, SBTN, TCFD, TNFD, and a future-focused mindset to anticipate evolving expectations.
  • Effective collaboration and influence: Confidence engaging with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive change, alongside excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic and operational insight: Ability to translate high-level sustainability objectives into actionable roadmaps and operational improvements at scale.
