If you’re looking to take an exciting new direction with your HSBC career, an internal move can open the door to many opportunities, allowing you to take on a new challenge, and develop your skills. Bring your knowledge of our brand to a new role and grow yourself further.
Global Trade Solutions (GTS) comprises over 4,500 people across more than 60 countries, helping suppliers and buyers with their export and import finance needs. Trade is where HSBC began in 1865, when we financed commerce between Europe, North America and Asia. This role forms part of the GTS Structured Trade team in the UK, a key home market for HSBC, and is focussed on the structuring and execution of Asset Based Lending (ABL) transactions. HSBC has a market leading presence in the UK ABL market, and we are actively looking to further grow this position across a broad range of deal structures and sectors.
We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Structurer, Asset Based Lending. The base location for this role is London or Birmingham.
In this role, you will:
- Support the promotion of ABL in GTS to senior stakeholders in the CMB Large Corporate, Mid Market Enterprise and Leveraged businesses to ensure a flow of origination and requests for proposals;
- Support the GTS Sales team with the origination of ABL transactions and lead deal execution through active engagement in client planning, customer pitches and deal discussions;
- Further build the GTS UK ABL proposition by analysing our growth strategy across different customer segments and sectors and refining our proposition as needed to address the ABL market opportunity;
- Lead the preparation and negotiation of customer facing documents and indicative term sheets;
- Provide the detailed financial benefit analysis and supporting information for each customer request;
- Ensure that distributed client material is accurate, reliable and provides GTS with the best pitch material;
- Ensure that all pitch presentations consider the operational and regulatory impact in each geography as appropriate;
- Provide detailed analysis of ABL market trends, sector knowledge and competitors’ market position on an on-going basis;
- Act as a conduit of information between sales, operations and product to allow for standard ABL product documentation to be kept up to date;
- Engage and negotiate with HSBC approved legal panel firms when providing ABL solutions to customers – detailed knowledge of ABL documentation is required.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- A demonstrable track record of deal structuring and execution in the UK ABL market with a positive and pro-active approach to seeking out new lending opportunities;
- Strong knowledge of ABL solutions and structures across a broad range of corporate customers across different sectors and geographies. Broader knowledge of other Structured Trade solutions (e.g. Non-Recourse RF, ABL) is also preferred;
- Detailed understanding of ABL legal and facility documentation and experience of instructing and reviewing valuation reports as well as other due diligence materials relevant to ABL;
- Thorough understanding of working capital management and related impacts for corporate customers – with an ability to transmit knowledge to the team and other stakeholders for potential cross sell with other cash management, treasury and trade solutions when assessing ABL opportunities;
- Very strong financial and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to identify problem statements (pointing out problems, recognising important information, establishing connections) and proactively present ABL and other financing solutions;
- Broad knowledge of relevant market trends in the UK ABL market as they impact Large Corporate, Middle Market Enterprise and Leveraged customer segments;
- An appreciation of the global nature of the HSBC Group’s business across geographies;
- Proven ability to navigate and implement inside a cross-functional and matrix organizational model;
- Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
