We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Sanctions Advisory Manager, on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

 

You’ll support the Regional Head of Sanctions and Deputy Head of Sanctions by being a subject-matter expert on UK and European Sanctions law and regulations in the regulatory/facilities sub-team. Acting as a leading advisor, you’ll also advise the business on sanctions-related clauses and agreements in facility documents and associated wordings, in addition to working on regulatory issues including filing disclosures, breach reports, and licence applications etc with appropriate authorities.

In this role you’ll:

 

  • Draft, review, and amend sanctions-related clauses in contractual agreements (facility agreements, customer contracts etc) and advise the business on such clauses and related sanctions risks
  • Support and co-ordinate regulatory reporting for the UK Non-ring fence bank with regards to sanctions reporting
  • Support the wider regulatory and advisory teams on sanctions and advisory matters including trade sanctions, client due diligence, and transaction referrals
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert on sanctions risk management and compliance with sanctions regimes imposed by the UK, European Union (EU), United Nations (UN), and USA, and HSBC Group sanctions policy
  • Analyse information, identify and track issues, and determine/address themes arising from regulators and the compliance exception reporting processes
  • Identify and ensure remedial action from relevant findings including policy changes and training requirements within UK Non-ring fence bank and the Europe Region
  • Work with Financial Crime Investigations on live sanctions investigations

 

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Proven experience of reviewing, drafting, and amending clauses in contracts is required
  • Strong understanding of UK/EU/UN/US sanctions is highly desired
  • Experience of working with regulatory reporting and high-risk exposures via clients
  • Proven analytical skills, together with the ability to support decisions with sound reasoning
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings, both to compliance colleagues and business heads
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Proven leadership experience with an open communication style
  • Specific experience with sanctions authorities such as Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation would be beneficial
