The Senior Manager – Global Events Experience & Operations plays a pivotal role in shaping, delivering, and optimising the organisation’s global events strategy. Working within the Global Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Marketing team. The role focuses on creating the global events strategy, to ensure consistent delivery globally of impactful, high-quality events that strengthen brand positioning, drive client engagement, and support commercial growth across multiple markets.
This role is pivotal within the CIB events community, helping coordinate, problem solve, and sharing best practice amongst the local events teams, as well as lead the day-to-day running of the Events Council,
Reporting to the Global Head of Marketing Services, this role leads the execution of strategic global events in partnership with regional and local marketing teams, and external agencies. The role is accountable for developing and deploying event toolkits, ensuring consistent execution of the global event strategy, and delivering measurable outcomes. The role holder will lead a high-performing team of two, providing guidance and mentorship, while fostering close collaboration with local markets to ensure alignment and excellence in delivery.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Campaigns, Content & Projects
- Develop and deliver the global event strategy in line with overarching CIB marketing objectives. Identifying opportunities, gaps and drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Create strategic platforms for global events series, to streamline and create proprietary series that are identifiable globally. This will include the strategy for key stakeholder/clients groups and creation of appropriate series tied to the CIB positioning and linked to the core HSBC brand.
- Delivers the marketing event strategy and creative, with the wider marketing services team, to deliver targeted marketing strategies, leveraging segmentation and personalisation to reach specific audiences more effectively.
- Create comprehensive event toolkits (templates, playbooks, guidelines, content packs) to ensure consistent execution of events across all markets, and for virtual/digital events.
- Manage end-to-end delivery of strategic global events, including planning, creative development, stakeholder alignment, vendor management, logistics, and post-event analysis.
- Create best in class client journey’s end to end. Owning the experience from initial invitation, through to delegate experience, be that physically or digitally (through a webinar). Incorporating virtual and hybrid formats, allowing for global reach and flexibility in attendance.
- Drive the content delivery at any event that marketing are in attendance, or liaising with other teams (including Comms), to deliver the filming of stakeholders and delegates, incorporating the creation of podcasts, and key take-outs for wider circulation, including for social media purposes, in collaboration with the Marketing Services Content Centre of Excellence.
- Run the Events Council operations and create recommendations for the Events Council on a monthly basis. Deliver the operating rhythm for the council, including all documentation and touchpoints.
Commercial Strategy & Growth Marketing
- Support the global marketing strategy for Global Corporates and Institutions, aligning with commercial growth objectives.
- Partner with business stakeholders to ensure events align with commercial priorities and deliver measurable impact.
- Identify and prioritise marketing opportunities within the Global Corporates and Institutions segments
- Utilise digital platforms for promotion (social media, email marketing, webinars) and employs advanced event management software for real-time analytics and tracking.
Measurement & Insights
- Oversee budget management for global events, ensuring cost efficiency and maximising return on investment.
- Implement best practices for pre-event promotion, on-site engagement, and post-event follow-up to enhance lead generation and client engagement.
- Track, analyse, and report on event performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
Leadership & Teamwork
- Lead and develop a team of marketers across various areas and regions.
- Influence and work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring cohesive marketing efforts with the client/customer at the heart of decisions.
- Lead a team of event marketing specialists, providing leadership, prioritisation, and professional development.
- Build strong relationships with regional and local events and marketing teams, ensuring collaboration and alignment, ensuring cohesive marketing efforts with the client/customer at the heart of decisions.
- Act as the main liaison between the global marketing team and local market teams to ensure smooth coordination, knowledge sharing, and brand consistency.
- Collaborate with the Group Brand team to ensure all events reinforce the global brand platform and adhere to brand guidelines.
- Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement within the events function.
- Promote Agile Principles and foster a collaborative working environment that reflects HSBC’s values.
- Manage relationships with external event agencies, suppliers, and strategic partners to ensure high-quality delivery and innovation.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable high level of marketing experience, with a focus on commercial marketing within global banking or financial services.
- Proven experience in planning and delivering large-scale, high-profile events across multiple regions.
- Strong understanding of event marketing best practices, including audience engagement, lead generation, and measurement.
- Ensure all events comply with relevant governance, risk, and compliance standards.
- Skilled in developing toolkits and frameworks for scalable, consistent event delivery.
- Experience managing budgets, negotiating with suppliers, and driving cost efficiencies.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in virtual, hybrid, and in-person event formats.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills within global, matrixed organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; MBA or Master’s in Marketing, Business, or related field preferred.
