This is a senior role reporting directly into the Global Head of Capital Risk. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing independent risk oversight of processes relating to capital risk management, measurement and reporting.

 

The role holder will work closely with the Capital Risk First Line of Defence, Regulatory Reporting and Assurance functions to ensure control design and operating effectiveness across a range of Financial and non-Financial Risk processes. This role requires a deep understanding of capital risk, in terms of both first-hand management, regulatory environment and the reporting of capital risks.

In this role you will:

 

  • Provide second line of defence (2LOD) risk stewardship for Capital Risk, working closely with Global Treasury ensuring appropriate measurement, monitoring and management of capital. 
  • Provide effective review and challenge of key capital processes including, ICAAP, Capital forecasting, regulatory reporting and other capital programmes of work.
  • Ownership of the Capital Risk and Control Library, including minimum control standards, with input from Risk Owners, and Control Owners, and providing guidance on continuous monitoring expectations.
  • Oversight of capital risk controls, metrics and thresholds to ensure they are within the defined approved corporate standards.
  • Support with the oversight of Regulatory Reporting Risk (RRR) for Capital. Regulatory Reporting Risk is the risk that reports or notifications to Regulators are not submitted, are submitted late, or are incorrect.
  • Provide advice on regulatory change, including impact on internal policy, review of regulatory interpretations and how changes in the regulatory environment may impact capital risk and the control environment.
  • Support the activities of the Assurance team, and review and challenge the outputs from their capital assurance activities.
  • Build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders across Risk, Global Treasury, Markets Treasury and front-line businesses. 

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Practical experience of capital risk management within a large international firm in either the first or second line of defence. 
  • Strong knowledge of capital regulations and reporting requirements as well as Capital planning, Risk Appetite setting, Capital Stress Testing, ICAAP and Recovery Planning;
  • Experience in reviewing regulatory change and the impact to capital policy / processes / controls / management / reporting.
  • Relevant Treasury Control and assurance experience and/or experience of working within Operational Risk, Internal and External Audit
  • Has developed a high level of professionalism and competency which helps to determine solutions around appropriate risk measures, risk processes, risk monitoring and management.

 

This role is based in London / Hybrid.
