What you can expect to be doing:

The role holder will lead the newly-created HINV Finance Data and Controls team and work closely with the wider HINV Finance and business teams as well as stakeholders in the broader HSBC Group to ensure the key data elements (KDEs) going into HINV’s financial reporting are fit for use. Where KDEs fall below expected standards, the role holder will partner with relevant teams to deliver strategic fixes and ensure appropriate tactical solutions are in place in the interim. 

The role will also provide strategic direction and guidance to senior management of HINV, with respect to data issues that are relevant to the business and ensure projects which impact on KDEs required by HINV Finance are properly implemented.  

 

Key responsibilities:

To formulate and implement policies, procedures and practices, in line with Group policies, regarding data controls and processes as they impact on Finance KDEs. 

To ensure the accuracy and completeness of documentation and reporting systems which impact Finance. 

Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of controls across Finance, including management of EUCs and Continuous Management Assessments (CMAs), becoming a key business partner to the Finance team to ensure controls are operating effectively.  

To lead on Finance data controls and governance matters and to influence decisions taken by external and internal stakeholders on all data matters impacting Finance. 

Ensure that data control matters have been appropriately considered and addressed by management and that recommendations and implications are clearly understood and implemented by relevant Business and Functional personnel. 

Liaise with external auditors in support of statutory audit and CASS audit requirements insofar as it pertains to data inputs and requests.  

Controls and compliance 

To be aware of the Operational Risks associated with the role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations embracing all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to apply. To abide by the Group Compliance Policy in conjunction with the relevant Compliance Department. 

 

Requirements:

Qualified finance professional with analytical background (Chartered Accountant or equivalent). 

Proven track record in a corporate environment, ideally with experience in banking,  

Strong ability to analyse large data sets, as well as an understanding of complex data flows and how they impact on the outputs of a Finance team 

Confident working in ambiguity, building out new processes and controls 

Forward looking and business oriented, able to operate effectively and to prioritise competing demands. 

Ability to effectively influence and persuade all levels of management. 

Motivate and develop team members, building positive working relationships

Our home office in Finsbury Square, London. We offer hybrid working to our employees, so you can flex between home and the office, with a current requirement to be in the office 2 days per week.
