Legal plays an important role in protecting the Group’s reputation by helping to future-proof the organisation through robust legal risk and issue advisory. Responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice to senior management and all businesses and functions, the team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.  

 

Global Legal plays an important role in protecting HSBC’s reputation, helping to safeguard the organisation by providing robust and comprehensive advice on legal issues and risks. Our lawyers advise senior management and the Global Businesses and Functions. They offer a range of legal skills, jurisdictional experience and practice specialisms across all the countries and territories in which HSBC operates.

In this role you will:

 

• Provide expert and professional legal advice, guidance and support to Equities and Cross Asset Securities Financing (Business Area)
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts for Equities and Cross Asset Securities Financing. These could include flow and complex negotiation of global equity derivatives client documentation (including quantitive investment solutions)
• Assist the accountable lawyer on the relevant Business Area on advising on product design, strategy, complex transactions, product development, sales/trading queries, governance and operational resilience, and crisis management 
• Identify new legal, regulatory and market developments that can affect the relevant Business Area’s activities, and educate business teams on how these developments may affect their business area. 

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

• An experienced qualified lawyer
• Private practice and in-house experience 
• Excellent knowledge of product, legal and regulatory issues relating to equity derivatives especially quantitative investment solutions, financing solutions and other products in the Business Area
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills and will have demonstrated the ability to take initiative and apply good commercial and legal judgment 
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and strong inter-personal skills 

 

This role is based in London on a hybrid basis.
