We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team on a 12-Month Fixed Term Contract in the role of Senior Digital Product Manager.

 

Digital Platforms in WPB is responsible for the core Mobile and Browser based platforms for meeting the everyday banking needs of HSBC Wealth & Personal Banking’s customer base. Supporting 36 markets and up to 20m customer daily, the team is focussed on three key platforms: 1) Mobile Platform; 2) Dynamic Experience Platform; and 3) Security Platform. HSBC Mobile Banking App supports 13m active users globally in 24 markets with 51% of WPB users active on mobile. The platform has experienced 60% growth in Mobile Active customers over the last 4 years to our current traffic of 2 billion visits per year globally.

 

This role is part of a team of digital product management experts who are assigned to Mobile initiatives to support the development of market leading digital journeys and experiences, and directly contributes to the effective and efficient delivery of change globally for WPB. This role holder leads and is accountable for the designing, building and running digital customer experience journeys covering all products, customer types and channels across HSBCs global WPB business. This involves leading cross functional teams (composed of analysts, developers, designers, and scrum teams) across different locations operating in a lean agile product development environment.

In this role you will:

 

  • Manage the entire product lifecycle to ensure customer needs are continually met and benefits are realised. Select and adapt suitable development approaches, whether predictive (plan-driven) or adaptive (iterative or agile). Collaborate closely with Technology & Transformation Leads to deliver the digital product change agenda on time and within budget. Take a hands-on role in removing obstacles by taking appropriate actions and escalating issues, when necessary, at both junior and senior levels.
  • Conduct analysis of market and user research, feedback, expert insights, and usage data to understand needs and spot opportunities. Use this understanding to find ways to set products apart and enhance customer experience. Create product variations that support different propositions and determine the best positioning for various customer segments. Prioritise product requirements and oversee the product backlog. Coordinate pilots, launches, communication, and training efforts to support product rollouts. Establish clear requirement baselines, secure formal approval, and ensure traceability in line with change management policies.
  • Take responsibility for achieving objectives and key results (OKRs) across the digital product. Use data to guide prioritisation and decision-making, always focusing on return on investment. Make sure priorities drive the most impact and identify new capabilities that could add value in markets, helping meet overall product goals. Apply systemic thinking and creativity to structure complex problems, making them easier to address. Consider costs, benefits, and potential obstacles as you develop solutions.
  • Provide practical coaching and support to the wider agile team, helping individuals and teams reach their full potential. Foster an environment where Teams perform at their best, aligning effort with strategic goals and results.

 

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

 

 

  • Prior experience within a global or regional product management role is essential. Must have proven experience in working in a cross functional matrix environment with market and global teams
  • Must have extensive experience with the range of product development and deployment activities including identifying opportunities and developing business cases, defining product requirements, engaging a wide range of functional experts to agree deployment approach, project execution, launch, and post launch performance measurement and management.
  • Prior consumer financial services industry experience is desirable however applicants must have a strong understanding of Digital business. Experience with travel, lifestyle, and/or other consumer product development is a strong advantage.
  • Strong communication skills for navigating through business requirements, differences of opinion on approach. Proven ability to build strong relationships across stakeholder groups with proven ability to influence large teams without direct leadership authority.
  • Excellent understanding of risk framework and experience of working with external departments: legal, compliance, financial crime & fraud, risk. A strong outward focus and grasp of the competitor environment – opportunities, threats & gaps is a requirement.

 

This is a hybrid working role with the base location as London.
