Real Estate Finance is a specialist team with primary responsibility for relationships involving Commercial Real Estate investors and developers. The adopted strategy of ‘by Professionals, to Professionals’ results in our customer portfolios being comprised of professional operators and market leaders in their sectors.

 

The Real Estate Finance (REF) business offers an outstanding opportunity to a prospective candidate to undertake a key role within a core sector for both HSBC and the markets in which it operates.

 

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join the team in the role of Relationship Director, dealing specifically with the Operational Hotel market.

 

The Relationship Management role provides dedicated relationship management to a portfolio of customers, with accountability for sales, service, risk, and operational delivery

 

Principal Responsibilities/Accountabilities

 

  • Maximise profitably by identifying customer needs first and then recommending appropriate solutions for the customer to consider and accept, whilst providing holistic relationship management with accountability for business development, service, risk, and operational delivery.
  • Be an ambassador for HSBC and develop the bank’s profile in the local business and wider community.
  • Supporting customers and placing their needs at the forefront of all that we do, setting world class standards.
  • Seeking new opportunities and nurturing existing relationships to identify new business opportunities.
  • Building a network of business introducers in the local professional and business community.
  • Adhere to structures and processes in place for the management of credit, operational, reputation, financial crime, and regulatory risk.
  • Build a strong understanding of the client's business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute to leadership activities including coaching less experienced members of the team, which will be relevant should the candidate seek to apply for future leadership roles.

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following knowledge and experience:

 

  • First class relationship management skills are essential, with a proven track record in a corporate client focused environment and an ability to anticipate client’s needs and tailor service delivery to them.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK corporate financing, products, and services, along with knowledge of Structured Banking transactions, Initial Public Offerings, Leveraged Finance, syndicated loans, private placements, bonds and securitisation and global capital markets is essential.
  • Real Estate or Hotels experience would be beneficial but is not a prerequisite.
  • Strong ability to manage the competing priorities of deal flows, credit quality and the requirement to drive income is essential.
  • Knowledge of changing economic, social, and governmental environment and how they might affect the hotel sector in the UK would be advantageous.
  • Strong ability to make connections between risk vs. reward, business process management, strategic implementation, reputational and people risks.
  • Excellent prioritising, organisation, decision making and time management abilities, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with excellent influencing skills and ability to builds positive working relationships with our customers, colleagues and stakeholders.

 

This is a hybrid position, with an expectation of a minimum 3 days in the office or visiting clients per week, with the base location for this role being Queen Victoria Street, London.  Clients are based nationally, so it is important that the successful applicant can travel to client meetings on a weekly basis.
