As part of the Global Markets & Securities Services Compliance (MSSC) team, you’ll be providing Compliance leadership and oversight of the GFX business, a major franchise within MSS and leading industry presence, across the region and connecting with business and Compliance colleagues across the globe. The successful candidate will be advising the Businesses on compliance matters and providing support and advice with a particular focus on application of rules, laws, regulation and policies and HSBC Group standards, as well as challenging them on their control framework and risk management. This is an integral lead role that will manage an advisory team focusing on multiple product lines, building on the existing strong relationship with GFX Business heads.

In this role you will:

  • Provide Compliance leadership and oversight of the GFX businesses across the region to ensure that business is conducted in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and codes of practice.
  • Provide Regulatory Compliance advice to support all areas of the GFX business, in particular but not limited to industry standards (FMSB Principles, FX and Precious Metals Global Codes,  EMTA, IOSCO) and regulations that are relevant for MSS such as MIFID, MAR, DFA.
  • Manage a team of Regulatory Compliance Officers providing guidance, support and challenge to key stakeholders.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with GFX Non-Financial Risk team and Chief Operating Office, Sales & Trading staff and senior management
  • Leading the review and challenge of the GFX business control framework and represent and key governance forums.
  • Lead independent oversight and challenge, ensuring the business objectives are aligned to regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Entity, Regional and Group Compliance where required to deliver on mandated initiatives, particularly coordinating with regional Compliance counterparts to share information and best practice.
  • Attend relevant GFX/MSS meetings as Regulatory Compliance representative, present and contribute as necessary

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive compliance advisory experience in GFX products and product lines including, FX Cash, FX Options, Emerging Markets Rates, Electronic Trading, Commodities, Listed and OTC derivatives).
  • Knowledge of key UK, European and US financial services regulation including, MAR, MIFID II, EMIR, Dodd-Frank and the FCA Handbook. Deep understanding of non-financial risk and conduct oversight
  • Strong communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas and provide timely escalation
  • Good interpersonal skills to build strong relationship with key stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows paired with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Prior experience managing and successfully leading a high performing team.

 

The base location for this role is London on a hybrid working basis.
