We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Quantitative Analyst.
HSBC Asset Management’s Global Investment Strategy Team is responsible for top-down research to support decision-making across the global investment platform, and for creating thought leadership and actionable market insights for clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
You’ll support the HSBC Asset Management strategy by maintaining and enhancing a suite of quantitative models and systems, you’ll contribute to the ongoing development of the strategy and communicate analytical findings and investment perspectives internally and externally.
You’ll work across fixed income, global equities, currencies, and alternatives and involves working with traditional valuation frameworks, higher-frequency models, and novel alternative datasets.

In this role you’ll:
- Support the investment strategy across fixed income, global equities, currencies, and alternatives across macro and market themes
- Working with traditional valuation frameworks, higher-frequency models, novel alternative datasets and other large datasets to source, validate, clean and analyse information and translate it into clear, actionable insights for investment decision-making
- Be active on a range of quantitative research projects with tasks including maintaining existing proprietary models, leveraging third party models and data and supporting the delivery of the team’s research agenda
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders, including the Global Investment team, to strengthen investment decision-making across HSBC Asset Management’s global front office
- Adhere to all relevant risk, compliance and governance regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business
To be successful in this role you’ll meet the following requirements:
- University education attainment in a mathematics or science led subject is essential
- Have demonstrable quantitative analysis, research and data modelling capabilities and used to working with large complex datasets
- Demonstrable coding skills across platforms such as Python and R, familiarity with other data platforms such as Bloomberg or Refinitiv is a benefit
- Knowledgeable about Financial Services or other financial commercial environments, experience of investment asset classes would be beneficial
- Able to work with various sources of information and communicate complex technical results to non-technical audiences.
- Possess good stakeholder management skills and confident when interacting with a varied internal audience
- Demonstrate really good time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to managing multiple tasks often with conflicting priorities
- Hold a CFA level1 qualification or studying towards it is a bonus
