We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager - Markets and Securities Services (Global Macro)
Join our Regulatory Compliance team and work alongside Global Macro stakeholders across GFX, Rates and Commodities. You will provide independent second line of defence oversight and pragmatic advice on key regulations and market standards including MiFID, MAR, DFA and the FX Code/FMSB, partnering closely with Sales & Trading, the Global Macro NFR team and the COO team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys translating complex requirements into clear, workable controls, staying ahead of regulatory change, and providing credible challenge.

In this role you’ll:
- Form part of the Global Markets & Securities Services Regulatory Compliance (MSS RC) team. Provide independent oversight and challenge of risk management practices across the Markets & Securities Services (MSS) businesses, Global Functions and / or jurisdictions within the second line of defence to obtain reasonable assurance that they are operating in line with relevant laws, regulations, codes, and HSBC Group Standards.
- Provide Regulatory Compliance advice to support all areas of the Markets business with primary coverage of Global Macro, in particular but not limited to industry standards (FMSB, FX Code) and regulation that are relevant for MSS such as MiFID, MAR, DFA.
- Partner with Entity, Regional and Group Regulatory Compliance where required to deliver on mandated initiatives, particularly coordinating with regional Regulatory Compliance counterparts to share information and best practice.
- Provide robust advice and challenge to satisfy the Regulatory Compliance role as a Risk Steward.
- The MSS RC Macro role will primarily focus on the GFX, Rates and Commodities businesses, and will also support the FX and Precious Metals benchmark execution desk; the role provides compliance oversight and risk stewardship across Macro trading activities, supporting adherence to applicable regulatory requirements and assessing compliance risks and controls, with desirable experience supporting or working closely with algorithmic/electronic trading and/or a technology background.
- Foster strong working relationships with Global Macro Non-Financial Risk (NFR) team and Chief Operating Office, Sales & Trading staff and management to oversight business control framework and governance forums.
- Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative changes and provide advice to enable the business to implement changes and operate in a compliant and controlled manner.
- Partner with Regulatory Change and other regulatory SMEs to deliver new regulatory requirements as well as leading on revisions to BAU rules and requirements and Q&As, ensuring changes and impacts are disseminated to the appropriate businesses, functions and / or jurisdictions.
- Develop close working relationships within the bank and across lines of business to engender a culture of compliance within the business and control functions.
- Contribute to the performance of Compliance Risk Assessment process, testing and monitoring program, and new business regulatory reviews and where necessary coordinate within the legal entity and beyond.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Solid experience in a similar Regulatory Compliance role/function (or very close equivalent) with the confidence to provide credible challenge as 2LoD.
- Working knowledge of the Macro regulatory landscape: MiFID, MAR, DFA plus key market standards (FMSB, FX Code,).
- Product and flow understanding across FX, Rates and Commodities
,ETD and OTC derivatives and how controls and governance operate around trading activity. - Strong day-to-day execution skills: analysis, understanding complex workflows, attention to detail, and the ability to escalate issues promptly.
- Strong collaboration skills to work across Sales & Trading, the Global Macro NFR team, COO and Compliance colleagues globally.
- Knowledge of algo/electronic trading control frameworks: MiFID II RTS 6
- Exposure to benchmarks (role supports the FX & Precious Metals benchmark execution desk).
- A technology background or proven ability to partner effectively with tech on control design/testing.
- Confidently runs an independent portfolio of work, sets clear priorities, and delivers high‑quality outcomes to agreed deadlines.
- Builds strong relationships with the business while being comfortable holding the line-raising concerns early, influencing effectively, and navigating difficult conversations with calm, professional judgement.
- Anticipates emerging conduct and regulatory risk themes and converts insight into tangible improvements, such as strengthened controls, targeted training, policy/procedure updates, or focused thematic reviews.
