We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Lead Risk Officer Financial Institutions.
This role gives you exposure to the Markets Treasury Function and an understanding of the activities they undertake. Broad credit risk responsibilities supporting a number of business areas across multiple counterparty types ie. Financial Institutions, Sovereigns, Funds, CCP’s and Securitisations; and a range of product types offering plenty of variety and development opportunities. Working alongside the Senior Risk Officer with the opportunity to deputise in their absence. Direct access to Senior WCRM Leaders. Good networking across 1&2LoD within HSBC UK and the broader Group. In this role, you will:
- Evaluate, recommend and approve transactions and annual reviews within personal approval authority
- Ensure prudent and well-structured credit proposals and minimise credit losses
- Be the point of contact within HSBC UK WCRM for wholesale exposures to Financial Institutions, Funds, Sovereigns, CCP’s and Securitisations.
- Provide qualitative, meaningful input and formulate, recommend, implement and maintain credit policies, guidelines, standards and processes.
- Ensure all regulated requirements are enacted as ‘business as usual’.
- Responsible for implementing Risk credit risk policies, procedures and standards.
- Responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day-to-day operations.
- Work closely with stakeholders across CIB and CMB including Markets Treasury, MSS, GTS, Structured Finance and Legal.
- Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrate wholesale credit skills, not only on a transaction basis but also credit process management.
- Conversant with lending practices, guidelines and risk appetite.
- General knowledge of legal, accounting, and regulatory requirements.
- Specific knowledge of the relevant business areas, counterparty risks and markets products.
- Knowledge and understanding of economic and financial landscape and external market forces.
- Well-rounded banking background particularly in Corporate & Investment Banking and/or Structured Financing, credit and operational processes is preferred.
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
- Strong relationship building, negotiation and influencing skills, especially with senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to problem solve, lead, collaborate and deliver complex initiatives.
- Management and Leadership skills.
