HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.
HSBC Alternatives is the alternative investment arm of HSBC Asset Management, investing globally in a wide spectrum of alternatives asset classes which include private market funds, hedge funds, real assets (direct real estate and energy transition infrastructure equity), infrastructure and private debts, venture capital, with ~300 staff across 10 offices (inc. London, New York, Dusseldorf, Hong Kong and Singapore).
We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management Alternatives business for a Senior Manager – Operations Design and Delivery.
The Alternative Investments Operations Team is responsible for the global investment operations function comprising portfolio transaction services, core investment support and control to enable investment decisions, product/portfolio controllership for all alternative investment products of HSBC Alternatives. The team operates from centres of excellence in London, Dusseldorf, Singapore and Bangalore
The role will directly support the Operations Director – HSBC Alternatives and will focus on the design and operating model for any new and existing investment capabilities and ‘new to be introduced’ to the Alternatives Business, with an initial focus on all Private Credit.
In this role you will:
- Overall design & build of new operating models related to portfolio/fund’s structure across Alternatives investment capabilities. This will also include collaborating with Product and Investment teams as well as Investment Operations capabilities leads until full portfolio onboarding.
- Support changes to existing operating models to reflect any new services, processes, and controls.
- Developing an effective operation framework across the global footprint, including complexity ad risk assessment, and comprehensive documentation according to HSBC standards, for all operating models.
- Continuous assessment of end-to end process mapping in close engagement with functional architecture team, 1st line of Defence risk and controls and 2nd Line of Defence to obtain guidance, support, and assurance in the review of the output.
- Engage with global fund services to assist with 3rd party provider relationships and the assessment of their product and technology services related to Alternatives capabilities - fund administrator, loan services, TA, Custodian, cash management solutions.
- Support the Alternatives Operations Director in any initiatives and potential transactions across all geographies and countries to input into due diligence of a new counterparty from an operation perspective.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following Essential Requirements:
- Deep knowledge and experience of Alternative asset classes is essential. Knowledge of Private Credit would be a bonus.
- Relevant level of experience as Operational Design capabilities in a financial services setting.
- Demonstrate effective project management capabilities to include, organisational interpersonal skills with proven ability to work to deadlines in an efficient and accurate
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse, interpret and distil complex information into easily digestible content and translate that into operational actions.
- Can evidence very strong stakeholder skills and create credibility to be recognised as a ‘Trusted Advisor’ that extends across a geographically dispersed audience.
- Extremely well organised and takes a pragmatic approach to dealing with multiple demands on your time and managing tasks.
