We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of IRRBB Senior Manager.


This role presents an opportunity to work in a team supporting the Global Head of IRRBB Reporting and Insights, driving and uplifting HSBC’s external and internal Interest Rate Risk reporting, explaining the underlying drivers, and making strategic recommendations to optimise and protect the bank’s Net Interest Income.



The role will collaborate closely with Markets Treasury, Regional IRRBB teams, Treasury Risk Management, Lines of Business, FP&A, External Reporting and Investor Relations to gather, analyse and disseminate best-in-class reporting and insight on HSBC IRRBB.


You will have accountability that reporting of IRRBB is delivered in an accurate and timely fashion in a collaborative, constructive and engaging working environment, providing insights on the drivers of earnings and value sensitivities, and ensuring sustainable success via a robust conduct, control and regulatory framework.

In this role, you will:


  • Collaborate and engage within the Global Treasury IRRBB team, reporting to the Head of IRRBB Reporting & Insights, you will ensure IRRBB reporting globally is consistent, coherent and actionable, and help to shape and drive the implementation of the IRRBB risk management framework by providing day-to-day business leadership, harnessing support from Global Treasury colleagues.
  • Combine strong subject matter expertise in IRRBB topics, together with good experience of effecting change in a large organisation to meet business objectives.
  • Provide pro-active ad hoc analysis, sourcing new data and developing approaches to better understand the drivers of our earnings and value sensitivities. In addition, act as IRRBB subject matter expert for all sites globally, advising on ‘best in class’ ways of mitigating IRRBB risks, congnisant of the IRRBB strategy, and financial resource constraints.
  • Ensure and promote sharing and adoption of best practice / lessons learned / continual improvement ethos, including working with the IRRBB Operations and Transformation teams to automate any repetitive processes.
  • Ensure Treasury senior management are kept informed of all key financial / non-financial issues / developments impacting the business by way of acting as a key point of escalation and if required, play a critical part in any subsequent remediation efforts.



To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:


  • Demonstrable experience within IRRBB (including, IRRBB risk management, methodologies, reporting, and the external regulatory and competitor environment).
  • Relevant product knowledge and experience with emphasis on banking book products, structural hedging frameworks, and associated modelling and metrics (Net Interest Income, Economic Value of Equity and so on), across a combination of regulatory requirements and optimisation initiatives, with role-relevant qualifications.
  • Fundamental understanding of drivers of Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book, including ability to triangulate expected sensitivities using ‘rule-of-thumb’ analysis.
  • Track record in developing and presenting impactful messaging to senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience of financial modelling, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting.
  • Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the numbers, policy, strategy, initiatives and narrative to life globally.
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies).



The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern.
