Head of Transactional FX IT
London, GB, E14 5HQ
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Global FX Services team (GFS) in the role of Head of Transactional FX (TFX) IT. GFS is undergoing sustained investment in its TFX business, driving a robust portfolio of projects that enhances our direct FX for payments capabilities and strengthen our core services.
You’ll play a key part in leading a high-impact programme for GFS IT, partnering with the GFS Head of TFX and the TFX product owners (based in London, HK, Singapore and US). As part of the global GFS IT management team, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the programme’s success.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you will:
- Serve as the vital link between business and technology, balancing business/system analysis, project management, and subject matter expertise in Payments and/or FX (or demonstrate the ability to develop this expertise)
- Drive project management efforts, ensuring stakeholder alignment and coordinated delivery across FX initiatives
- Apply business analysis and systems expertise to design end-to-end solutions, identify inefficiencies, and champion consistency and standardisation across Payments and FX
- Actively participate in workshops to ensure robust, integrated solutions are developed—this is not just a project management role
- Collaborate with Product Owners in Payments and FX, the FX execution team (eRisk), the TFX client onboarding team, and partners in GPS, GTS, and IWPB
- Engage directly with clients to co-create solutions that meet their needs
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Experience leading IT change initiatives on global enterprise systems
- Proven experience delivering improvements within FX and/or Payments systems
- Proven ability to work directly with business product teams and, ideally, external clients—combining commercial acumen with technical expertise
- Demonstrable ability to pivot across project management, business/system analysis and operational analysis as appropriate
- Experience navigating and delivering services and products front to back and across business lines
- Familiarity with financial institutions or banking, including working within regulatory and control frameworks
- A technical or post-technical background (such as software development) is a plus
