Job Requirements
- Strategic Leadership and Vision
- Visionary Leadership: Establish and maintain the Network Segmentation capability, integrating modern security principles to align with HSBC’s organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Inspire teams to achieve excellence in network security.
- Strategic Direction: Set the course for Network Segmentation initiatives, balancing risk mitigation with operational needs and business outcomes. Influence key stakeholders to drive alignment and support for strategic initiatives.
- Capability Ownership: Champion innovative solutions that enhance the bank’s network infrastructure, ensuring scalability and resilience. Lead cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of strategies.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Influence
- Strategic Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with senior stakeholders across Architecture, Engineering, and Global Business/Functions. Act as a trusted advisor, influencing and aligning priorities to achieve shared goals.
- Executive Communication: Engage with senior leaders across the organization, providing strategic updates on priorities, progress, risks, and opportunities related to network segmentation capabilities. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Customer-Centric Leadership: Drive a customer-centric culture, aligning technical requirements with business objectives to deliver competitive, sustainable, and secure outcomes.
- External Partnerships: Partner with external technology providers and security specialists to integrate best practices and leverage cutting-edge tooling, enhancing HSBC’s Network Segmentation capability.
- Operational Excellence and Governance
- Regulatory and Security Compliance: Ensure network segmentation initiatives comply with regulatory, operational, and security standards, adhering to HSBC’s Operational Risk Management Framework.
- Governance and Risk Management: Oversee governance mechanisms to evaluate, review, and implement network segmentation solutions. Proactively identify, monitor, and manage risks, ensuring alignment with architectural principles.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to drive innovation and reduce technical debt, fostering a culture of experimentation and learning within the network segmentation capability.
Qualification and Skills:
Essential:
- Strategic Leadership in Network Segmentation: Extensive experience in leading network segmentation within large-scale, complex, and global organizations. A background in engineering or architecture is beneficial, providing a strong foundation for strategic oversight.
- Strategic Implementation: Proven ability to design and implement segmentation strategies that secure and optimize network infrastructures. Strong capability to manage and prioritize technical initiatives in alignment with business objectives.
- Security Expertise: Strong understanding of modern network security principles, tools, and technologies, including segmentation platforms and industry best practices.
Non-Technical Requirements
- Leadership and Communication: Proven leadership skills with exceptional communication abilities. Experience fostering collaboration across global, multi-functional teams and influencing at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Influence and Navigation: Experience navigating and influencing within complex, matrixed organizations. Ability to manage diverse stakeholders effectively and drive strategic initiatives.
- Regulatory Insight: Familiarity with regulatory and market drivers impacting financial services, with the ability to translate these into actionable strategies.
Technical Expertise
- Segmentation Tools and Methodologies: Knowledge of network segmentation tools and technologies, with experience in methodologies such as Zero Trust Network Architecture (ZTNA), software-defined segmentation, and micro-segmentation in hybrid environments.
- Security Zones and Policies: Understanding of security zones, VLANs, subnets, and firewall policies to design and enforce segmentation across large-scale networks.
- Threat Modelling and Vulnerability Management: Expertise in threat modelling and vulnerability management practices to safeguard critical assets and infrastructure.
- Cloud Security and Development: Understanding of cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP) and their associated network security challenges and solutions. Familiarity with modern coding languages and secure software development principles is advantageous.
