This position will sit within our Technology services for Talent and Learning at HSBC, aligning business objectives with Group HR People Priorities and Technology strategy and direction.
The team manages Talent and Learning Technology globally, delivering, supporting and continually improving our systems.
The Head Talent and Learning Technology will own, oversee and manage the strategic, technical and operational leadership of c.100+ Talent and Learning Technology applications. Additionally, the role will manage technology costs [c.$20m budget] and allocation of 100 resources [c 50 Perm], supporting prioritisation of delivery, ensuring that it is in line with agreed budgets and timelines and serves as the key decision authority on technical solutions and dependencies.
The role is based out of London and will require regular interactions with Senior Executives across Business and Technology, as well as Audit and will be accountable for driving the prioritization of the portfolio as well as any critical service and risk reviews.
Job Requirements:
- Drive technology teams that deliver excellent results to difficult problems across multiple functions and geographies.
- Define and deliver a strategic operating plan that ensures resources (capability, people & funding) deliver improvements in current customer journeys, new features, and compelling distinctly native services.
- Manage the annual budget spread between designing and developing new services (Change the Bank -c.$12m) as well as managing and supporting existing services (Run the Bank) – c.$8m.
- Own and deliver end-to-end Talent and Learning Technology platforms and services that supports over 240,000 staff globally.
- Creation of medium to long term strategy with delivery roadmap and management for Talent and Learning Technology
- Stakeholder management and face off at GM/MD level across HR Business and Technology
- Technology performance optimisation including platform stability
- Act as a role model leader, managing c.100 HR Tech employees across multiple locations [mainly based in India and UK]
Qualification and Skills:
- Seasoned Portfolio lead with extensive experience
- Strong demonstrable experience in leading sophisticated, complex, and large-scale platforms business.
- Strong knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
- Proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Executives across the Group
- Expert in Technology management, having previously led large teams to deliver across a broad scorecard of customer, commercial and conduct outcomes, globally.
- Experience in setting strategic direction for an organization, galvanizing stakeholders outside of direct management and delivering across the matrix.
- History of leading successful customer lifecycle management programmes within the HR/Colleague facing Technology space
- Deep understanding of application architecture and design principles
- Experience leading Engineering organizations including managing Engineering Managers and Senior Engineering Managers
- Lean Portfolio Management experience in a large-scale environment (ideally financial services)
- Strong ability to balance risks vs. rewards and maximizing the cost effectiveness and profitability for the business.
- Outstanding Technology leader who is passionate about driving business agenda
- Asset and value tracking expertise; mapping capacity to demand and tracking the value delivered.
- Experience of using data for portfolio prioritization recommendations, reporting, decision making and escalation
- Consultancy approach and skillset with the ability to identify and articulate complex problems and solutions.
- Strong understanding of operational effectiveness and strong delivery drive
- Strong people leadership, teamwork and decision making, communication competencies with the ability to influence global teams.
- Respectful of different cultures, working with colleagues from across all 5 regions (North America, LATAM, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe
- Evidence of successfully managing financial plans
