The Governance Team (part of the People, Governance and Communications Function (PG&C)) serves as principal advisor to boards of directors on corporate governance matters and leads and implements a world-class corporate governance practice throughout the HSBC Group through end-to-end corporate governance advice. The Global Governance team consists of c.240 employees across 25 countries. It is led globally by the Group Chief People and Governance Officer who reports directly to the Group CEO.

We are currently seeking a confident leader to join the SMCR and RRP Team in the role of Governance Lead. 

As the Governance Lead, you will act as a trusted advisor to the Head of SMCR and ensure effective governance, oversight and management of SMCR and RRP Management in Resolution (MiR) activities.

You will support the Head of SMCR and Conduct in ensuring streamlined operations and compliance with the SMCR Regime and MiR ensuring that all relevant regulatory requirements are adhered to.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead Management in Resolution activities under the Group’s RAF Programme including Annual Key job role updates, Maintains the MiR Run book and ensures activities are evidenced and controlled. Participates in Group RAF testing as required (i.e. “fire drills”).
  • Lead and oversee the SMCR and RRP team governance, communication and engagement strategy and associated reporting and MI to regulated business CEOs and PGC Leadership.
  • Lead change activity associated with Regulatory developments for all aspects of the SMCR regime.
  • Oversee GSC operations leading in simplification activity providing advice and challenge and supporting continuous improvement and implementation of enhancements to the framework
  • Manage and coordinate SMCR and Conduct Rules Training Strategy and execution for SMFs, their offices and internal stakeholders (e. People Advisory)

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Knowledge of and understanding of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR) or similar Regulatory regime
  • Experience of delivery of and contributing to change and/or significant change efforts.
  • Strong leadership, inter-personal, organizational and process management (verbal & written)
  • Demonstrates a strong desire to learn and explore, open to feedback and new ideas, and displays a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Quickly absorbs new information, adapts in real-time, and continuously evolves their own approach to need the needs of a fast-changing environment.

 

The base location for this role is London or Edinburgh with a hybrid working pattern.
