We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Global Technology / Semiconductors Analyst
HSBC Global Investment Research (GIR) is a CIB client servicing and revenue generating global business unit, positioned as one of the key business lines of CIB. GIR is an independent research house with a strong focus on Emerging Markets (EMs). We have analysts covering 1,700+ companies, 60+ economies, 45+ sovereigns’ rates and 50+ currencies globally. In addition to partnering with the CIB clients, Global Research also collaborates with the rest of the Group businesses
You’ll produce differentiated investment research, build and maintain robust financial models, and contribute to high-impact client engagement. You’ll require a good understanding of trends within semiconductors and the key drivers influencing listed semiconductor companies.

In this role you’ll:
- Support the initiations of coverage on global semiconductor stocks using detailed financial models, valuation frameworks and earnings forecasts
- Identify investment opportunities and risks through fundamental analysis and scenario work and write investment research notes on company specifics, thematic pieces, sector outlooks and investment recommendations.
- Track industry developments and generate ideas on how these may impact stocks within our coverage
- Present investment views and support idea generation for institutional investors (asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds) and participate in client meetings, calls, roadshows and other sector events
To be successful in this role you’ll meet the following requirements:
- Have very strong Equity Research experience and ideally with knowledge of the Technology / Semiconductor sector
- Have a strong qualitative and quantitative analysis capability and used to financial data modelling and producing financial valuations
- High level of research skill to be able to work with various sources of information to produce ratings reports (Buy/Sell/Hold recommendations) and client presentations
- Be an advanced user of various data tools and market data information platforms such as Excel, Valuations, (DCF, EV/EBITDA, P/E, SOTP, scenarios/sensitivities), Bloomberg, FactSet and Visible
- Possess very good stakeholder management skills, coupled with a professional confidence that engender the view of a ‘Trusted Partner’ across a varied internal and external audience
- Demonstrate really good time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to managing multiple tasks often with conflicting priorities
- Hold at minimum of a 2.1-degree classification in a Science, Tech, Engineering Maths (STEM) subject
