As part of the Global Markets & Securities Services Compliance (MSSC) team, you’ll be part of Markets Regulatory Compliance and provide advice, challenge and support for trading and sales business within Global Foreign Exchange (FX Cash, FX Options, Commodities, GIS and eTrading). You’ll work closely with Sales, Trading and Management, to understand their strategy and business plans, and to offer independent evaluation and guidance of the regulatory requirements their strategy may encounter. Given the nature of GFX this will require you to work collaboratively both with staff within the UK and overseas, presenting you with the opportunity to learn about and deal with a truly global business.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide independent advice, oversight and challenge of risk management practices across GFX Sales and Trading within the Markets & Securities Services (MSS) businesses, and/or functions that sit within the second line of defence to obtain reasonable assurance that they are operating in line with relevant laws, regulations, codes and HSBC Group Standards.
  • Provide Compliance advice to support to coverage of the GFX business, in particular but not limited to industry standards (FMSB, FX Global Code) and regulation that are relevant for MSS such as MiFID, MAR, DFA.   
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative changes and provide advice to enable the business to implement changes and operate in a compliant and controlled manner.
  • Foster strong working relationships with GFX Non-Financial Risk team and Chief Operating Office, Sales and Trading staff and management to support and review business control framework and governance fora.
  • Provide robust advice and challenge to satisfy Compliance role as Risk Steward.

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Extensive experience operating within a Regulatory Compliance type role, with a specific focus on eTrading, preferably with FX markets knowledge and its associated products. 
  • Experience and/or a good understanding of algorithmic trading control framework.
  • A good understanding of benchmarks and associated regulatory principles and standards
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows paired with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas and provide timely escalation.
  • An awareness of the FX Global code would be beneficial.

 

The base location for this role is London on a hybrid working basis.
