London, GB, E14 5HQ
If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with operations in 64 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager Risk Analysis and Discovery - Emerging Risks.
The core purpose of Financial Crime’s Risk Analysis and Discovery function is to provide an industry-leading capability that identifies crystallised and emerging risks and typologies and uses those strategic insights to strengthen the Bank’s financial crime framework through enhancements to our strategy, controls, policy and culture. We aspire to be HSBC’s ‘go to’ source of expertise on thematic drivers of financial crime by providing proprietary insight on the evolution of criminal threats, actors and typologies. Insights are drawn from analysis conducted within the team as well as Investigations findings to drive a strategic assessment of the Bank’s potential financial crime risk and impact on controls and policies. The function combines the expertise of the Analysis programme, Analytics and Risk Discovery’s specialist role operating the Dynamic Risk Assessment (DRA)’s coverage control. The function owns and maintains the Typology Library, the Bank’s strategic repository of insights on known criminal behaviours and typologies.
A move across the business allows you to continue to access tailored professional development opportunities, and our fantastic benefits packages.
In this role you will:
• Proactively identify, research and analyse emerging risk themes for monthly executive talking points, quarterly Emerging Risk Forums and other audiences, combining external drivers with proprietary insights from regional RAD Analysis projects and investigative casework.
• Deliver timely and accurate reports, briefings and infographics to a diverse set of audiences; we must be timely, comfortable with a variety of product types, and relevant to our audience – including helping the business to grow.
• Support and drive collaborative initiatives and governance projects across the Group and Regional RAD Analysis teams, including developing an annual ‘Programme of Analysis’ for the function.
• Provide financial crime subject-matter expertise to support curation of the Financial Crime Typology Library (TL) - a standardised, single source of known financial crime typologies - including reviews of proposed and existing content, working closely with RAD’s TL manager.
• Deliver thematic reviews of RAD analysis and/or TL content to a range of stakeholders as required, to support development of Bank strategy, policy or controls.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
• Experience in research and critical analysis of information, working with a range of sources to develop actionable insights.
• Knowledge and/or background in financial crime or macro themes that impact the financial crime landscape, such as geopolitics or digitisation. While this is not an investigative role, previous experience in financial crime investigations or analysis is helpful.
• Self-starter with an ability to take ownership and drive projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to draft high quality reports for senior readers with meticulous attention to detail.
• A flair for building relationships and willingness to proactively engage with stakeholders across the organisation to gather information and influence outcomes.
This role is based in London, Hybrid.
