HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management for an ETF and Indexing Business Development Director.

The ETF and Indexing Business Development Director will offer specialized expertise in HSBC Asset Management's passive fund options, including ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds), OEICs (Open-Ended Investment Companies), and ICAVs (Irish Collective Asset-Management Vehicles). They will be accountable for pinpointing sales prospects that cater to the specific requirements of our UK clients. The individual in this position will strengthen relationships with UK clients across various segments to bolster the HSBC brand and drive additional business growth. This will involve collaborating with the HSBC AM sales team to oversee and nurture client relationships while identifying potential opportunities. The candidate will possess extensive knowledge of operations in both asset management and capital markets.

In this role you will:

  • Help drive the adoption and penetration of HSBC ETFs and index funds within the UK across all segments which will mean adopting a position that will oversee the entire sales process from identification to finalizing the sale.
  • Meet agreed sales revenue targets derived from a combination of origination and new to bank sales deals by carrying out activities that create an effective and ongoing pipeline of opportunities
  • Creating credible relationship with external UK asset managers, fund of fund managers, private bank and wealth managers.
  • Promote the marketing of the HSBC Asset Management passive range by working with internal teams in client proposition and product specialists for the creation of high quality of sales materials.      
  • Adhere to internal controls and Group compliance policy by maintaining accurate records regarding account visits, client conversations, finalised contracts, etc.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Relevant levels of experience in the UK Asset Management Passive products space, with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with ETF index funds is essential
  • Demonstrable evidence of success working on in a sales origination or business development role is essential.
  • Possess strong stakeholder management skills that enable you to create ‘trusted partner’ credibility across a range of Internal and external audiences is essential.
  • Commercially astute and able to analyse and interpret financial data in order to make an informed sales related decisions is essential.
  • Really well organised and takes a pragmatic approach to dealing with multiple demands on your time and managing tasks with conflicting priorities is essential.
