Role Purpose

Make markets in US Treasuries for the firm’s clients, manage trading risk within agreed limits, and deliver sustainable returns on risk while supporting a top-tier franchise. The role partners closely with Sales and the wider Macro business to provide high-quality execution, market insight and disciplined risk management. You’ll be the lead US Treasury Trader based out of London.

Responsibilities

Market making & client franchise

  • Make two-way markets in US Treasuries for targeted clients, providing timely and accurate execution.
  • Maintain a high level of client engagement by sharing market colour, views and trade ideas/recommendations.
  • Protect and grow market share consistent with a top-tier rates franchise.
  • Provide pricing to Sales teams and clients in line with the Bank’s policies and governance standards.

Risk management & performance

  • Manage the trading book and risk positions within defined limits and pre-set risk parameters.
  • Generate appropriate return on risk in the context of market opportunity and help the desk achieve revenue targets.

Trade execution, booking & controls

  • Ensure timely execution, reporting and booking of trades into front office primary trading systems in accordance with internal policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clear communication with the Sales desk and relevant stakeholders throughout the trade lifecycle.

Collaboration & business development

  • Provide market colour and support to Debt Capital Markets (DCM) as needed.
  • Assist in delivering technical enhancements related to pricing, workflow and data capture for the business.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and strong understanding of financial markets.
  • Experience trading US Treasuries preferred but other bond trading experience will be considered. Knowledge of derivative products such as Swaps is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with pricing and valuation methodologies in rates products.
  • Strong analytical capability with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate transparently and effectively with stakeholders across Trading, Sales and support functions.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and make sound decisions in fast-moving markets.
