If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC and fulfil your potential. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We are currently seeking a professional to join our team in the role of: Director, Product Owner, Global Equities Trade Management.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
Role Purpose:
The Senior Product Owner will lead the design, delivery, and lifecycle management of a new global office system for booking, managing, and processing trades across the full spectrum of equity products — including derivatives, cash, and prime services. This platform will be critical to HSBC’s high-volume equities business, replacing legacy infrastructure with a scalable, resilient system capable of supporting future growth.
This role requires deep expertise in equities and trading systems, a strong technology partnership mindset, and proven ability to deliver complex migrations without disrupting client service or business performance.
In this role you will:
Product Strategy & Design
- Define and own the product vision and roadmap for the new equities booking and lifecycle management platform.
- Translate business requirements into actionable design specifications in partnership with IT and operations.
- Ensure the platform meets business needs for scale, resilience, and flexibility across all equities asset classes.
- Design the system to fully support downstream functions — including finance, operations, settlement and clearing, regulatory reporting, and sales — in a flexible and simplified manner.
Delivery & Migration
- Lead the migration of positions and transactions from legacy systems to the new platform, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and minimal disruption.
- Drive “volume neutrality” — ensuring the new system can process current and future trade volumes without constraint.
- Oversee testing, validation, and cutover strategies to mitigate risk during migration.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary business owner and decision-maker for the platform, balancing input from trading, sales, operations, risk, and compliance.
- Partner closely with IT and change management teams to ensure timely delivery and business alignment.
- Report progress, risks, and outcomes directly to the Global Head of Equity Product Owners and senior leadership.
Continuous Improvement
- Monitor system performance post-implementation, ensuring OKRs are met and enhancements are prioritised.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process simplification, automation, and scalability.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven track record as a senior product owner, technology manager, or business lead in a global bank or financial services environment.
- Strong understanding of equities trading across derivatives, cash, and prime.
- Experience with high-volume trading systems and large-scale system migrations.
- Deep knowledge of Agile methodology with experience delivering products in an Agile framework.
- Exceptional ability to translate business requirements into detailed technical deliverables.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across front office (trading & sales), technology, operations, and control functions.
- Excellent communication skills, with confidence presenting to global senior leadership.
This role is based in London.
