Markets Treasury sits at the heart of HSBC and acts as the Street-facing arm of the Treasury function (which responsible for setting the risk limits and strategy in respect of HSBC’s balance sheet). Markets Treasury’s priorities are: 


- Manage HSBC’s cash, liquidity and funding for 45+ sites globally .
- Manage HSBC’s overall High Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA).
- Manage HSBC’s short-term funding requirements.
- Manage HSBC’s interest rate positions of the banking book.
- Generate stable (and significant) revenues by optimizing return on interest rates and HQLA.

Role Purpose:

 

The Markets Treasury function is seeking a Global Head of Transformation at Director level based in London to lead the delivery of the Markets Treasury transformation agenda – covering all areas of regulatory change, innovation, non-financial risk reduction and strategic investment.  

The role holder will report to the Global COO for Markets Treasury and sit alongside the COO and Non-Financial Risk pillars which report to the Global COO. 

 

 

In this role you will:

 

- Develop a strategic roadmap to deliver on the Markets Treasury transformation priorities in line with HSBC’s overall value stream framework. 
- Oversee the entire Markets Treasury transformation programme and lead teams to ensure timely and effective delivery in accordance with risk appetite, interdependencies and budget constraints. 
- Manage non-financial and conduct risks inherent in delivery change into the operating environment by taking into consideration HSBC’s standard non-financial risks and conduct outcome
- Drive the use of agile methodologies within technology teams (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Lean) in line with corresponding transformation frameworks at the bank.
- Review the footprint of the existing team (rebalancing permanent/temporary and onshore/offshore team members) to increase efficiency and drive simplification. 
- Provide updates to governance committees and make recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation
- Drive the adoption of HSBC standards and work in alignment with the change framework at all times.
- Champion strategic initiatives in the COO space such as AI adoption and simplification.

 

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

- Experienced leader in Bank transformation with specific expertise in markets treasury projects and requirements and understanding of working in a front office markets environment. 
- Possesses a proven understanding of systems and data architecture in treasury, risk and finance environments, with ability to bridge the communication between business stakeholders and the technology team.
- Strategic thinker, able to reimagine the transformation pillar to create efficiencies and simplify the function its day-to-day running. 
- Problem solver, with the ability to balance competing stakeholder interests as well as legal, regulatory, risk and finance considerations as part of a global team working across multiple time zones, when appropriate.
- Ability to present information in a professional manner, including preparing documents for review by C-level audiences.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal stakeholders and partner with them to deliver on value streams. 
- Strong project management skillset covering the whole project lifecycle from initiation to closure.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to bring stakeholders along the journey to drive projects to completion.
