Derivatives Clearing Services (DCS) sits within HSBC’s Global Markets business. DCS generates commission revenue through execution and clearing of futures and options, as well as clearing eligible OTC derivatives for our clients, including asset managers, hedge funds, banks, brokers and corporates.
We’re looking for an HBEU Head of Clearing Sales to lead the Sales strategy and execution for the DCS Origination team. You’ll manage a team of sales professionals and be accountable for delivering revenue growth by expanding balances with new and existing customers and increasing market share across cleared OTC and ETD products.
What you’ll do
- Sales strategy & execution: Develop and deliver a comprehensive HBEU sales strategy aligned to global DCS objectives.
- Leadership: Lead, coach and motivate a high-performing clearing sales team; set clear targets and support development.
- Revenue generation: Own entity revenue targets and drive origination and client management to achieve/exceed goals.
- Client coverage: Build and maintain senior relationships with institutional clients; understand needs and tailor solutions.
- New business development: Proactively identify and convert new opportunities; create compelling value propositions for HSBC’s clearing services.
- Market & product expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of cleared OTC/ETD products, clearing mechanisms, and the regulatory landscape (e.g., EMIR, Dodd-Frank, MiFID II), plus competitor and market trends.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with Trading, Sales, Operations, Legal, Compliance and Product teams to ensure smooth onboarding, service delivery and product enhancements.
- Pipeline & reporting: Build and manage a robust pipeline; provide accurate reporting on progress, activity and market insights.
- External representation: Represent HSBC at industry events, conferences and client presentations to promote DCS.
- Risk management: Ensure sales activity is conducted in line with regulations and internal policies, with a strong focus on risk management.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in financial services with a strong focus on derivative clearing sales or prime brokerage sales, listed derivatives sales.
- Proven track record of building institutional client relationships and delivering against revenue targets.
- Deep understanding of OTC and exchange-traded derivatives, clearing, and the regulatory environment.
- Strong people leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills; confident with senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability; able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- An established network of institutional clients within the region.
