Data Programme Director
London, GB, E14 5HQ
Job description
Ready to lead a strategic data transformation across regulated risk and finance reporting?
Why HSBC
HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
Default and Forbearance data underpins retail credit models, capital measures and financial reporting across Risk and Finance, and is subject to increasing scrutiny of data quality, controls and evidence of compliance. It is currently supported by a tactical, manual and labour-intensive solution that creates operational risk and limits long-term sustainability.
This role sits within the Chief Data and Analytics Office team, supporting International Wealth and Premier Banking, and partners closely with Risk, Finance and Technology. You’ll be accountable for the end-to-end programme to deliver a strategic, controlled and scalable data solution, bringing multiple workstreams into a single governed plan spanning process, data, technology, controls, policy alignment and migration cutover. Success will mean stronger controls, improved data quality, fewer manual interventions and clear, audit-ready evidence of decisions and delivery outcomes.
What you'll be doing
· Lead the end-to-end delivery of the strategic Default and Forbearance Data programme across process, data, technology, controls, policy alignment and migration cutover
· Establish and own an integrated delivery plan with clear milestones, critical-path dependencies and cross-functional commitments
· Steer delivery across global and regional stakeholders, aligning outcomes with regulatory and reporting timelines and ensuring measurable evidence of progress
· Establish robust programme governance with clear decision rights, escalation routes and disciplined tracking of actions and outcomes
· Provide executive-level reporting, including dashboards, milestone and dependency tracking, risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, and change control
· Embed rigorous delivery controls, including documentation standards, evidence retention, testing, sign-off and cutover readiness
· Oversee budgets, forecasts and resource planning across internal teams and suppliers, where applicable
· Ensure the target-state solution is operationalised, fully documented and successfully transitioned into ongoing support after go-live
What we're looking for
· Proven leadership and delivery of complex, multi-workstream programmes spanning data, process and technology change in regulated environments
· A strong track record of establishing programme governance and delivering decision-ready executive reporting across milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, assumptions and change control
· Substantial experience of migrating tactical, manual processes to strategic, scalable solutions supported by a clear operating model and robust controls
· Strong risk and control discipline across delivery, including audit-ready documentation, evidence management, testing, sign-off and cutover controls
· The credibility and influence to align senior stakeholders across Risk, Finance and Technology, secure prioritisation and sustain executive sponsorship
· The ability to translate complex delivery detail into clear choices, impacts and decision points for executive forums
· Demonstrated oversight of budgets, forecasts and resource capacity, underpinned by clear financial governance
· A strong record of building and developing high-performing teams across direct and matrixed workstreams, with clear objectives, accountability and consistent delivery standards
Building a sustainable data solution
This is a high-impact executive opportunity to shape and deliver a strategic data solution supporting critical models and financial reporting. You’ll partner across functions to improve data quality, strengthen governance and reduce the operational risk created by manual processes. The programme requires decisive leadership, rigorous delivery discipline, strong control standards and reporting that enables timely executive decisions and stands up to scrutiny. If you have the ambition and experience to establish a sustainable target state that supports regulatory compliance across retail portfolios, we’d like to hear from you.
