HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.
We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management for a Data Product Owner, Investment Accounting.
The role is within the HSBC AMG (Asset Management Group) Data & Analytics Office (DAO). Asset Management DAO have pivoted towards a Value Stream alignment to become more consumer focused, supporting “Investment” and “Investor” Value Streams. Data and Analytics professionals have responsibility for executing our HSBC AM Data Strategy which includes a fundamental change to the current data operating model. The next step in this evolution is to organise the team to manage Data Products and to develop the existing ‘Data Stewardship’ role into Data Product Ownership. Data Product Owners are a critical connection between business stakeholders, data engineers, data scientists, and data consumers.
The teams of Data Product Owners will be organised into two value streams: Investor and Investment.
The role reports to the Investor Data Product Manager and be primarily accountable for the operation, oversight and transformation of the Investment Accounting Data Service.
In this role you will:
- Effective implementation of data governance across the data domain
- Defining the data quality rules and agreeing data quality requirements for the data elements under the domain
- Ensuring the quality of the data elements in their domain are appropriately measured and monitored and agree appropriate thresholds for data quality
- Ensure strong stakeholder & Cross-Functional engagement by building collaborative relationships with value stream stakeholders and Dao colleagues in order to drive the adoption of data products.
- Manage all aspects of engagement with the 3rd party provider of the data product and act as a point of escalation for data-related service requests and Incidents for their data product
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Relevant level of experience of working in Data Management is essential. Domain knowledge of Investment Accounting would be desirable
- Deep understanding of Product Management principles related to how Data Products are built from Data Services building blocks is essential. An understanding of the architecture that underpins data flow across a complex organisation is a bonus.
- Demonstrates a commercial mindset within an operations environment to provide positive customer outcomes is essential.
- Possess strong stakeholder management skills that enable you to create ‘trusted partner’ credibility across a range of Internal and external audiences is essential.
- Really well organised and takes a pragmatic approach to dealing with multiple demands on your time and managing tasks with conflicting priorities is essential.
This role can be based In London or Birmingham.
