The Cost & Supplier Management Lead will be instrumental in delivering a global program focused on achieving cost savings across HSBC’s 3rd party direct and indirect expenditures. The successful candidate will lead efforts in identifying opportunities, designing solutions, developing business cases, securing approvals, and overseeing implementation.
The role will drive a step change in HSBC’s 3rd party cost management through a data-driven approach to the delivery of efficiencies using demand, process improvement, spec optimisation and other levers.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Cost and Supplier Management Lead.
In this role you will:
• Rapidly embed yourself within the business, deeply understanding the value generated by our 3rd party expenditure along with opportunities to optimise and any associated risks.
• Create a pipeline of short- and medium-term cost saving opportunities backed by detailed due diligence, business case and execution planning.
• Compile rich data sets on 3rd party spend drivers to unlock untapped opportunities through new and novel insights.
• Secure ‘approval to proceed’ for identified projects, leveraging thoroughly researched business cases
• Oversee / support the delivery of cost reduction projects in close collaboration with business, procurement, and transformation teams.
• Operate within HSBC’s risk and regulatory boundaries to protect the interests of customers and shareholders.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Exceptional problem-solving skills including Operational efficiency and transformation experience with proficiency in Lean problem-solving approaches.
- Proven commercial aptitude for identifying high volumes of cost saving / efficiency opportunities.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with an exceptionally strong work ethic, capable of managing upto 50 complex transformation projects per year.
- Strong change and project management capabilities to meet aggressive timeframes with quality results.
- Advanced analytical skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
- A good understanding of 3rd party contracts and experience in managing 3rd parties, vendor management is essential.
The following is preferred:
- Exceptional academic record, preferably showing analytical capability is desirable but not essential.
- Career experience in Manufacturing, Financial Services, Operational Consulting or Procurement Consulting is desirable.
This role can be based in Leeds, Sheffield, Chester, Manchester, Birmingham. Ability to commute to Leeds/Sheffield once a week is essential.
