Shape and deliver HSBC’s multi‑year global Fraud transformation, building the platforms, processes and operating model that let us deploy and refresh AI/ML fraud detection at pace across traditional and digital channels—safely, compliantly, and at scale.

Role Purpose

Lead a Global Fraud Programme delivering business and technology transformation to respond to rapidly evolving fraud threat vectors. You’ll own the end-to-end programme strategy and execution, mobilising cross-functional teams across Fraud Operations, Fraud Management, Analytics, Technology and third-party partners, and ensuring successful transition into BAU.

Key Accountabilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of a complex, multi-year global change portfolio: strategy, roadmap, planning, governance, financials, risk and execution coordination across central and market teams.
  • Deliver measurable outcomes, including implementation across IWPB markets (incl. Hong Kong, UK and CIB), managing $59m+ investment and delivering $183m gross benefits.
  • Design and deploy a future-proof fraud decisioning ecosystem supporting Transaction Fraud and Account Management, enabling rapid model and rule updates.
  • Provide thought leadership in decision systems, translating internal/external trends into executable fraud capability strategies (AI/ML and emerging technologies).
  • Establish and run benefits tracking and commercialisation governance, ensuring delivered capabilities realise and sustain business case value.
  • Optimise delivery cost and flow, promoting reuse, removing blockers, and embedding continuous improvement into planning and execution.
  • Ensure adherence to the Change Management Framework aligned to FIM, with strong control discipline and transparent reporting.
  • Lead and develop people: direct leadership of 12 reports and indirect leadership across a 250–300 person delivery organisation across regions and functions.
  • Build strong senior stakeholder alignment across Fraud Ops, Analytics, Technology, Products and Second Line of Defence, including vendor and data-provider management.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to FCS leadership—constructively challenging, keeping customer outcomes front-and-centre, and driving delivery of regulatory, operational and financial outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Bring deep fraud management experience in financial services, with strong understanding of fraud operations, strategy and controls.
  • Have a proven track record leading large-scale business + technology transformation programmes across multiple geographies and cultures.
  • Be comfortable operating in modern data/decisioning landscapes: AI/ML, big data, data management, cloud ecosystems, decision systems (and ideally open-source tooling).
  • Lead with pace and clarity—able to make trade-offs, manage ambiguity, and keep delivery aligned to both immediate needs and long-term strategy.
  • Embed Agile and continuous improvement ways of working, coaching teams to deliver iteratively while maintaining strong governance.
  • Demonstrate strong executive communication skills—able to turn complex qualitative/quantitative analysis into crisp decisions, reports and presentations.
  • Be known for integrity and accountability: delivering what you commit to, protecting confidentiality, and following policies, processes and regulations.
  • Build inclusive, high-performing teams and partnerships—valuing difference, succeeding together, and getting outcomes over activity.
