HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC’s clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We have an opportunity within HSBC Asset Management team for a Business Development Director – UK Intermediaries.

This role forms an integral part of the overall IFA sales coverage model for UK Wholesale and as part of our sales function you will increase UK Wholesale growth within HSBC’s Multi Asset investment. The role will be responsible for fostering relationships with existing and newly originated IFA’s in order to grow assets under management (AUM) within tier one, two and three IFA’s. The role works in a regional structure managing a portfolio of identified clients meaning that although the role will be office based in in London there will be regular travel across London, East Anglia and the South East to conduct client meetings,

This role is a specialist advisor, it does not directly sell or provide investment products to end user investors and is Non-Regulated.

In this role you will:

  • Develop key client platform across tier one, two and three intermediary / IFA clients in UK Wholesale and increase AUM of HSBC’s Multi Asset platform.
  • Deliver key performance indicators for clients in the region by means of effective account management and planning to achieve individual and regional sales targets.
  • Deliver a range of client activities across the region consistent with sales objectives and account plans by hosting and attending events, functions and meetings with IFA’s.
  • Achieve a high level of client activity output using various methods of communication including phone, email, written and in person and in turn capture that activity in the CRM platform to track and monitor the sales pipeline.
  • Effectively collaborate with internal colleagues and teams including Wholesale to deliver key regional objectives.
  • Consistently deliver a high standard of interaction with clients and following agreed processes and controls.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following essential requirements:

  • A deep knowledge and understanding of regulated Asset Management products and services particularly Multi Asset Investment.
  • High level of knowledge of the IFA investor landscape including a demonstrable network of contacts.
  • Possess very strong interpersonal skills of a consultative nature that engenders a ‘Trusted Advisor’ status within a varied stakeholder contacts across internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrate strong commercial sales acumen with the ability to analyse, interpret and distil info and data into easily digestible content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with evidence of preparing presentations and delivering content at corporate events and functions.
  • Extremely well organised and takes a pragmatic approach to dealing with multiple demands on your time and managing tasks with conflicting priorities.

The role will be hybrid based at HSBC offices in London. There will be regular travel across London, East Anglia and the South East to conduct client meetings,
