We are currently hiring an Associate – Leveraged and Acquisition Finance (LAF)
Associate LAF is a key role in the LAF team, responsible for supporting Associate Directors / Directors / Managing Directors to implement LAF's, Capital Market’s and the wider Group strategy.
Responsibilities
- To actively lead juniors and assist in developing a values led high performance culture across LAF team locally and the wider group.
- To support LAF Management in the implementation of strategy in order to maintain a strong, sustainable deal pipeline across the platform locally in line with the group purpose, vision and values through building, assist developing and maintaining client relationships and engaging with stakeholders across Global Banking & Markets and the wider group.
- To take active responsibility for ensuring effective governance structures and processes are followed and to developing an understanding of critical issues across LAF, working in partnership with support functions and the wider group.
- Supporting LAF management locally in the origination, underwriting and syndication (as appropriate) of event driven and flow financing solutions for HSBC Group's corporate and financial sponsor clients.
- Proactively engage with the LAF management and team to implement Capital Markets strategy and Global Standards.
- Have an understanding of LAF's operating model / its alignment with the Group strategic direction.
- Participate in the Global or Regional as required Capital Allocation Committee (CAC) a, Client Selection and Reputational Risk Committee (CSRRC), Sub Investment Grade Committee (SIC), Credit Committee and others, (as applicable).
- Be aware of and support Group strategy and objectives across LAF.
- Develop and populate financing models, extracting the required information from diverse and generic sources and ensure that such models are accurate, consistent and as clear as possible facilitating rapid review by senior team members.
- Assist in the structuring of transactions and assist in the preparation CAC/TRM/Credit, SIC & SCRRC submissions anticipating inter alia credit issues, market trends and competitive dynamics.
- Take responsibility for accurate reporting of income, work in progress status for transactions involved, ensuring that deal folders are complete and that inside / confidential registers are appropriately maintained.
Knowledge/Experience
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly, work across multiple projects and deals in varying stages of execution under time pressure
- Previous experience working with materials such as pitch books and information memoranda
- Proficiency in financial modelling and detailed financial analysis
- Demonstrable interest in credit analysis, corporate finance considerations and deal execution
- Commitment to meeting deadlines without compromising attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong team player with a proactive and self-motivated attitude and ability to think and act independently and to take ownership of workstreams from outset
