We are currently hiring for an Associate HIF – Strategic Financing Partnerships

Role Purpose

The Associate, Strategic Financing Partnerships will support the team in the delivery of HIF’s growth strategy by enhancing collaboration with public, private and non-profit providers of de-risking and impact capital to help HSBC deliver on financing opportunities across key sectors and markets

Key focus of the role will be to deliver analytical, strategic and creative thinking skills to support the development and execution of blended finance opportunities that allow the firm to invest or lend alongside public sector institutions in situations that align to HIF’s global strategy

The team will structure and execute platforms, partnerships, and innovative financing products that enable HIF to deepen relationships with both public and private sector clients whilst delivering catalytic change to the Group’s sustainability agenda

 

Responsibilities

  • The Associate is expected to work with senior bankers in business origination and execution across HIF’s product set with particular focus on blended finance transactions and strategic financing initiatives
  • Support on the development of a detailed growth strategy for what is a new team in the bank (market analysis, presentation materials, budgeting and planning)
  • Draft presentation and discussion materials, data analysis, financial modelling and valuation for use in transactions or strategic client dialogue
  • Assist on transaction execution by supporting due diligence, document preparation, negotiation and liaising with relevant internal and external counterparts
  • Work closely with internal global and regional stakeholders within HIF and broader CIB, as well as key strategic partners in Group Sustainability, 1st and 2nd line risk and wider group functions
  • Stay up to date with related innovation from competitors, clients and the market in general to help develop solutions that meet client requirements.

 

Leadership & Teamwork 

  • Execute the Strategic Financing Partnerships plan, helping to establish programmatic blended finance capabilities for sustainable infrastructure
  • Develop in-depth understanding of the dynamics of the business and an understanding of clients’ priorities with the aim of identifying appropriate financing opportunities
  • Build strong relationships internally with key product, risk and regional partners
  • Take on new challenges for improvement and drive change in business operations
  • Ensure views are not biased, accept different opinions and perspectives and collaborate with other members to create common values

 

Key skills and experience required

  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong financial analysis and modelling
  • Deep knowledge of the universe of public sector providers and capital
  • Understanding of energy transition and associated infrastructure
  • Understanding of project finance principles and capital markets
  • Corporate finance experience
