Real Estate Finance is a specialist team with primary responsibility for relationships involving Commercial Real Estate investors and developers. The adopted strategy of ‘by Professionals, to Professionals’ results in our customer portfolios being comprised of professional operators and market leaders in their sectors.
Real Estate is a key market for the UK economy and a material contributor to UK Commercial Banking. It brings together the fundamental skills of relationship management, large corporate lending, risk management and partner engagement, with the added complexity of a highly political and cyclical property industry.
The Real Estate Finance (REF) business offers an outstanding opportunity to a prospective candidate to undertake a key role within a core sector for both HSBC and the markets in which it operates.
We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join this team in the role of Associate Director and will support our efforts specifically within the London Real Estate Finance business.
In this role, you will:
- Support the Relationship Director with holistic relationship management with accountability for business development, service, risk and operational delivery. Particular focus is on supporting transaction structuring and forming Heads of Terms.
- Seek new opportunities and nurturing existing relationships to identify new business opportunities ensuring the focus is on growing the business sustainably, by identifying opportunities to expand a portfolio and broadening client relationships by leveraging HSBC's extensive network
- Global Standards - Manage regulatory and reputational risk, ensure business adherence throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, accepting, monitoring, escalating and mitigating risk
- Build a strong understanding of the client's business and industry to promote insights, enrich client conversations and deliver fair outcomes
- Confidently manage financial crime risk throughout the client lifecycle by identifying, assessing, accepting, monitoring, escalating and mitigating risk.
To be successful, you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven track record in a client focussed environment in the Commercial or Corporate Banking environment is essential.
- Previous experience of the Real Estate market is highly desirable but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of the economic and market environment with an ability to demonstrate how this impacts the Real Estate Financing market.
- Strong understanding of all areas of risk management and processes.
- Credit and lending experience is essential.
The role based in Queen Victoria Street, London, with hybrid working arrangements that combine a home base and an office presence, along with client visits. There will be a requirement for travel in and around the London area for client visits, so it is essential that the successful candidate is based within a commutable distance of this area.
