We are currently seeking a Senior Securities Lending & Financing Trader, EMEA to join the team in London.
The main function of this position is to effectively lend client assets in the European time zone to optimise client revenues globally, ensuring that a high level of customer service is maintained within the agreed client mandate and risk framework.
HSBC Agency Lending sits within HSBC Securities Services (SSv) as per of the wider Markets and Securities Services business. HSS provides a range of securities services to a client base which includes sovereign wealth funds, major insurance companies, asset managers, investment banks, government agencies, investment trusts, collective investment schemes, corporates and pension funds. The business is globally located with major centres in locations including London, Hong Kong, New York and Dubai. The service range includes global custody, UK sub custody, trustee and depository services, investment administration, performance consultancy, securities lending, treasury and FX and corporate trust and loan agency.
In this role you will:
- Effectively manage trading book allocation of inventory across equity, fixed income and cash assets.
- Seek and develop opportunities to raise cash financing, as well as deploy cash liquidity while managing term risk.
- Meet business performance targets including counterparty/market revenues achieved or exceeded:
• Revenue opportunity identification.
• Implementation of trading strategies and ideas including inventory and collateral management.
• Counterparty revenue and balance targets.
• Market revenue and balance targets.
• Use of performance benchmarking tools to monitor progress.
• Monitor progress against plan and propose amendments to meet changing market and business circumstances.
• Target Return on Risk Weighted Assets.
• Manage cash liquidity needs appropriately both short-term and long-term.
- Build and maintain counterparty relationships through proactive engagement. Seek and maximise profitable income streams by building and maintaining effective business relationships with market counterparts in Europe.
- Provide input into Portfolio Evaluations and Market Commentary.
To be successful you should meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrate an solid understanding of Securities lending pricing methodologies and drivers of demand & pricing.
- Proven experience Cash reinvestment and Cash management.
- Sound knowledge of Client profiles and their investment strategies, in order to optimise risk vs return performance.
- Understanding of Counterparty profiles and their activities (prime brokers, broker-dealers, repo/funding desks).
- Experience in wider Custody Functions (Income, Settlements, Corporate Actions).
- Working knowledge of Securities Lending systems – Trading Apps, Global 1, Global Custody Systems (GCS/GHSS), Bloomberg.
