We’re currently seeking two experienced professionals to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Credit and Capital Management Quant. One role will require a portfolio management focus, while the other will have a broader quantitative focus.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to partner with Product specialists across the regions, especially within Credit and Capital Management (CCM) and Group Risk Analytics – to ensure models and analytics are optimised to serve the Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) franchise and structural market conditions in each region. You’ll lead workstreams to drive the build of the industry-leading python Felis Analytics Platform, working in cross-functional teams to deliver analytics products to the CCM business. You’ll also help deliver a global programme to build and use a set of tools that leverage capital and credit models to optimise portfolio strategy, improve risk-adjusted returns, and deepen understanding of portfolio risk.

In this role you’ll:

 

  • Use statistical profiling of disperse datasets representing inputs into the return on equity of the business identify opportunities to optimise one or more aspects of profitability metrics with a focus on product pricing
  • Provide commercially driven thought leadership into the design and calibration of the relevant credit framework
  • Consult with relevant stakeholders within CCM, Group Risk Analytics; and wider stakeholders across the Global Businesses and Global Functions (e.g. IT, Wholesale Data, Treasury, Finance etc)
  • Function as trusted advisors, partnering with stakeholders and providing constructive challenge
  • Build and enhance portfolio analytics to monitor and explain performance and risk (e.g., concentration, migration, default/loss experience, utilisation, limit and exposure dynamics)
  • Develop portfolio optimisation insights to support actions on pricing, limits, appetite, and client/product strategy; quantify trade-offs between growth, profitability, and capital consumption
  • Design and run stress/scenario and sensitivity analysis to understand portfolio behaviour under changing market conditions and inform strategic decisions
  • Translate analytics into decisions: produce clear recommendations, options, and impacts for senior stakeholders; track outcomes and iterate

 

 

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

 

  • Broad-based banking experience in financial services; preference for experience in credit, rates, or cash management markets
  • Portfolio analytics and/or portfolio management experience, ideally in a quant/strats/analytics environment (e.g., portfolio monitoring, optimisation, stress/scenario analysis, concentration and limit analytics, risk-adjusted performance) is desirable
  • Highly numerate with hands-on coding skills (e.g., Python, C++) and strong software development experience; comfortable building production-grade analytics
  • Strong commercial acumen and execution capabilities, with experience in a strats, quant, analytics, or data function
  • Experience working with financial data and large datasets; ability to define data requirements and improve data quality & lineage in partnership with data & technology teams
  • Motivated quick thinker with innovative problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including preparing and presenting recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders
